Who is Captain Enoch in Ahsoka? Answered

With the story of Ahsoka carrying on the story of Star Wars, we finally got introduced to the big bad guy of the series Grand Admiral Thrawn in the series. He has been seen previously in the animated series Star Wars: Rebels but this was his first live-action appearance with his iconic Star Destroyer Chimera and his faction of scary Stormtrooper called Nighttroopers. Now if this faction of Thrawn was not weird enough, we get to witness Captain Enoch commanding this army. Now the question is who is Captain Enoch in Star Wars? Who is Captain Enoch?

Captain Enoch, played by Wes Chatham, is the commander of the Nighttroopers with their commander-in-chief being Grand Admiral Thrawn. This dynamic makes it pretty obvious that he is the right-hand man of Thrawn. Talking about his origin, there is little to no information about who he was before his appearance as the commander of the Nighttroopers.

The most distinctive thing about Captain Enoch is his faceplate. Unlike other Stormtroopers, Enoch sports a golden humanoid face plate that resembles the Roman military aesthetic and paired with his robes, it gives Enoch a rather gladiator-type look. However, there is a rather interesting detail hidden in Captain Enoch’s faceplate. The design is quite similar to that of a Roman funeral mask for the deceased to retain their identity. This detail is another indicator of the possibility of Enoch being undead as well.

Difference Between Stormtroopers and Nighttroopers

So, it is pretty obvious that the Stormtrooper faction under the command of Grand Admiral Thrawn is far from a faction of regular Stormtroopers. The makeshift armor, the golden patches, and the chants paired with the weirdly scary discipline of these troopers make them far more lethal than your average not-able-to-shoot-straight Strartroopers, hence gaining the name of Nighttroopers.

Another interesting thing to think about is that in the first half of Ahsoka when she takes down Marrock it turns out that all this time he has been an undead person only alive under the influence of Nightsister magick. So, this raises the possibility that Nighttroopers are undead as well which also explains their prolonged survival after being exiled to Peridea.
