Few games can claim to have survived multiple eras of gaming, but Minecraft stands in a league of its own. One of the biggest reasons has been the continuous flow of Minecraft updates, which either add to the existing gameplay or fundamentally rewire how we play the game. The abundance of new decorative blocks even made all the builders happy. The update included a bunch of items, including lanterns, campfires, barrels, and the stairs and slab variants.

On the survival and exploration side, the Pillagers and raid mechanics were the primary combat encounters in Minecraft 1.14. Minecraft 1.16 Nether Update

If I were to pick the best Minecraft update ever, it is undoubtedly the Nether update that deserves to be crowned as the greatest.

Before the Nether update, the dimension felt repetitive and unfinished. If you chose to step through the Nether Portal before, you would mostly encounter endless netherrack caves and some fortresses scattered throughout the area. This way, many didn’t feel it was worth spending time exploring the Nether dimension, except for gathering the Blaze rods.

Then came the Nether update that overhauled the dimension and added beautiful Crimson Forests, Warped Forests, Soul Sand Valleys, and Basalt Deltas. Every biome had its own atmosphere, mobs, terrain generation, and a ton of new building materials.

A brand new mob, Piglins, was introduced, and the best thing about them was that you could barter with them to get some useful blocks and items.

The biggest reason why Minecraft 1.16 sits at the throne for me is that it made exploring the Nether so exciting. The progression had evolved completely, as players were now focused on getting their hands on powerful, new Netherite gear. Apart from these game-changing mechanics, music tracks like the Pigstep instantly became iconic.

Ranking the best Minecraft updates can be a hard task because every player values different features or parts in this game. While some love exploring the different biomes, some want a combat-focused progression, and others love building beautiful structures using different blocks.
