AMD Ryzen 7 8840U is a new processor and it has been found in gaming benchmarks that a particular handheld from GPD utilizing this chip is beating the Steam Deck's efficiency. Finally, at 10W, the Ryzen 8000 APU gets 7% more FPS as compared to Steam Deck. We don't think it is impressive enough to meet Valve's demands, but at least we are one step closer to a processor architecture that may be good enough for Steam Deck 2.

AMD Ryzen 5 8500G has leaked on Geekbench 5 public benchmark database. Up to 5.0GHz boost clock speed with a core configuration of 6-cores and 12-threads has been revealed here. The processor should be featuring Radeon 740M graphics. AMD has an event planned for CES 2024 where it could potentially unveil these new Ryzen 8000G processors.
