Articuno, the legendary Ice and Flying-type Pokemon, is making its Dynamax debut in Pokemon GO’s Legendary Flight event. You can challenge this majestic bird in Max Battles starting January 20, 2025, from 6 PM to 7 PM local time. While Articuno looks cool, it’s not exactly a top performer in the current meta in Pokemon GO. In PvE, there are simply better Ice-type attackers like Mamoswine and Glaceon that hit harder. For PvP, it does okay in Ultra League, where it can take on popular picks like Giratina and Venusaur, but struggles in Great League and Master League due to its many weaknesses.

For catching, here’s what works best for Dynamax Articuno in Pokemon GO. For starters, always use Golden Razz Berries to get the maximum chance of catching it. If you’re low on Golden ones, Silver Pinap Berries work, too, but aren’t quite as good.

Wait for Articuno to finish its attack animation for the perfect timing. Aim for excellent curveball throws, as the catch circle is pretty big. Be patient, as Articuno has a 2% base catch rate so that it might take a few tries.

Can Articuno Be Shiny?

Yes, you can get a shiny Articuno! The odds are pretty good at about 1-in-20 (5%). When you get to the catch screen, you’ll know it’s shiny immediately.
