OnePlus Surprised everyone by releasing Android Oreo update for OnePlus 3 and 3T before their latest 2017 flagships; the OnePlus 5 and 5T. This even had angered some of the OnePlus 5 users, which expected the Android Oreo update to reach their devices earlier than other OnePlus devices. But, they don’t need to be angry anymore as not even one week has passed and OnePlus has just released OxygenOS Open Beta update which brings Android Oreo to OnePlus 5.
The new update brings a ton of improvements and OnePlus 5 owners certainly have a lot to rejoice for. However, one thing to notice here is that it’s a beta update, hence to install it, you will have to register as a beta tester. If you don’t want to become a beta tester, alternatively, you can directly download the full ROM and flash it on your device. That said, I would advise you to take the beta route as it is both easier and safer. If you are still undecided on whether you want to install the beta update or not, here are some of the highlight features which might help make your decision a little easier:
- Picture-in-Picture
- Auto-fill in apps
- Smart text selection
- New Quick Settings design
- Parallel apps
- October Security Patch
- Notification dots
- New App folder design
- Upload photos directly to “Shot on OnePlus”
If you want all these features on your device, you need to install the beta update. However, if you can wait, then you should wait for the stable build which will be released in late December or Early January. If you ask me, getting Android Oreo is a plenty enough reason to install the beta update. If you do decide to install it, do share with us your experiences in the comments section below.
