OnePlus phones have a lot to like about them, but one thing that always lured fans and consumers is its software – OxygenOS. Its clean, fast, and snappy experience is unparalleled, and the latest edition – OxygenOS 15 is now out, bringing several changes and features along with it. So, if you’ve been curious about what new features are coming to your OnePlus device, check out our complete list of all the new OxygenOS 15 features.
OxygenOS 15: All the New Features
We have listed down all the features that we spotted in the current open beta of OxygenOS 15. Do note that since this is a beta release, some features can change or come later down the line.
Rounded Look for Quick Setting Toggles
The update also changes the look of the quick settings panel, adopting a rounded appearance for the toggles. This change offers a cleaner look, aligning with the overall visual style of the operating system. I couldn’t help but notice that they look awfully similar to iOS 18’s control center toggles. While I don’t mind this look, but I do feel some fans might be upset by the close resemblance.
Lock Screen Depth Effect and One Take
With OxygenOS 15, we will get to see depth effects for the lock screen. Similar to what we’ve seen on iOS 17 and Xiaomi’s Hyper OS. This feature adds a layer of depth to the clock on the lock screen, creating a dynamic look. That’s not all, OnePlus is also adding some new clock styles to the mix so you can customize your lock screen to add a level of personalization to it.
OnePlus is also introducing a new feature called OneTake. This will show a seamless transition from always on display to your home screen in a single take, just like the name suggests. You can see it in action on this X post shared by OnePlus.
Changes to Stock Icons and Widgets
Some stock app icons like the clock, recorder app, and calculator also received a fresh new look. They are easier to recognize now and align pretty well with the new design language of the OS. But that’s not all. The update introduces new widgets for these apps. They are larger and show more information at a time.
These will help you stay more organized and glance at all the important stuff directly from your home screen. Plus, there are some hidden Easter eggs here as well for die-hard fans.
New Image AI Features (Cloud)
There are also a bunch of new AI features in OxygenOS 15 that can help improve your images and make them look clear and sharper.
AI Unblur
AI Unblur is a tool that can effectively remove blur from your photos. Whether you accidentally captured a blurry shot or have an old photo that’s faded over time, AI Unblur can help restore clarity and details to it. This option is available from the edit menu in the Gallery app.
AI Reflection Eraser
Reflection Eraser automatically detects and removes unwanted reflections from glass or lens glare in your photos. It eliminates distracting reflections, allowing you to showcase the true beauty of your subjects.
AI Detail Boost
This feature is similar to the one found in Pixel devices, where it adds more details to photos when you zoom into them with the help of generative AI. Detail Boost can add more information to your pictures so you don’t get a blurry mess when you crop into them.
Productivity AI Features (Cloud)
Apart from image AI features, OnePlus has also added some productivity-oriented AI tools that can help make the most out of your daily tasks.
AI Assistant for Notes
There is a new AI-powered assistant in the Notes app that can help summarize long notes by intelligently breaking them down into bite-sized bullet points that are easier to understand. It can also change the formatting of the text, polish the writing, continue writing for you, or elaborate some parts of the text.
In the current version, it only supports English, Hindi, Spanish, Italian, Simplified Chinese, and traditional Chinese languages.
AI Smart Replies
With this feature enabled, you will get smart replies created by AI that are based on the current context of the ongoing conversation. It works with most messaging and social media apps, but it does raise some questions over the privacy of the user.
Intelligent Search (Cloud + On Device)
Intelligent search is similar to the universal search feature that we have seen before but more powerful. It can find any file, or even text within that file, app, or mail based on your query. You can ask about these particular things and Intelligent search will fetch the answers for you.
Improved Fluid Animations
OxygenOS 15 is introducing parallel animations that will offer smoother and more responsive animations throughout the system. It will help remove any lag or stutter that appears when switching from one app to another, enhancing the overall user experience. These animations not only look visually appealing, but also add a more intuitive and enjoyable experience to the UI.
Pass Scan (On Device)
This is a small but significant feature for frequent flyers. Pass Scan can scan your paper boarding passes and store them digitally so you don’t have to carry that piece of paper around with you. This option is available right from the camera app, so you won’t have to dig into settings to use it either.
Expanded Open Canvas Support
If you have used the OnePlus Open or any other OnePlus tablet, then you may be familiar with Open Canvas. It lets you manage multiple apps on the screen, move them around, and change their size as needed. With OxygenOS 15, the company is bringing this feature to their smartphones. This will offer a better multitasking experience beyond what is typically available on Android.
Calculator Easter Egg
OnePlus is known for catering to its community, and previously it had an Easter egg where if you type “1 + 1” and press “=” on the calculator app then it shows “Never Settle” which is the company’s tagline. This Easter egg disappeared when the ColorOS code base was merged with OxygenOS, but thankfully it is back with the OxygenOS 15 update.
Share with iPhone
OnePlus could also help bridge the gap between Android and iPhone with a new “Share with iPhone” option. This is an option that needs to be enabled within the settings app of your OnePlus device. Once enabled, you need to download the O+Connect app on your iPhone and start sharing files between the two devices.
Reduced System Storage
The system will also take up less space as OxygenOS 15 is optimizing storage usage. This results in a significant reduction of up to 20% less space from the OxygenOS in the OnePlus 12 series. This means you’ll have more space available for your files, apps, games, and photos.
However, this will only be available for the upcoming OnePlus 13 series and later. Current OnePlus devices will not be able to benefit from this.
New Boot Animation and Set Up Screen
OxygenOS 15 is bringing a fresh and modern look to the setup process. A new boot animation will greet you upon startup. Additionally, the setup screen has been redesigned to provide a cleaner and more intuitive experience. OnePlus has stuck with its current boot animation for years. So this will be a refreshing change for the OS and the fans of the software.
Fluid Cloud Integration with More Apps
Fluid Cloud is OnePlus’s attempt at iOS dynamic island and live activities. It will show a pill-like notification that you can long press on to see the ongoing status of any activity, like a timer or a song playing on Spotify. With OxygenOS 15, the company is adding support for more apps to the Fluid Cloud. So now you will be able to track your food order on apps like Swiggy and Zomato.
Other Android 15 Features
OxygenOS 15 is built on top of Android 15, so it comes with all the latest bells and whistles that the new version of Android comes with. This includes Circle to Search, Gemini Live support, and Theft Protection.
So these are all the new features and improvements that we have spotted on OxygenOS 15. We are still digging through the OS and will update the list as we discover more. Meanwhile, if you want to learn about whether your OnePlus device will get the update or not, then you can take a look at our dedicated guide.
