No Man’s Sky has officially reached a monumental milestone by celebrating its 10th anniversary today. With the developers reflecting on a decade of redemption for the title, Hello Games founder Sean Murray has shifted the spotlight to the No Man’s Sky Cosmos update, which will be the next big step for the game.
In a new open letter shared by Sean Murray, the Hello Games founder stated: “I feel surprisingly emotional today. Ten years ago, travellers across the universe set foot on their first alien planet in No Man’s Sky. It’s very cool to me that all around the universe, other Travellers have woken up on countless other planets, light years apart from each other.”
In the gratitude-filled open letter, Murray also revealed the next major update for No Man’s Sky, titled Cosmos. At the time of writing, all we have from this new update is the title, which was also revealed in a special YouTube video.
However, the title might imply that players will venture further into the mysteries of space, especially since Murray’s open letter suggested that players still have a lot more exploration to do. While we might not see Cosmos release in 2026 alongside upcoming games this year, it is still set to add a significant amount of new content to the game.
Hello Games has already revealed that, despite ten years of dedicated play by millions of players, the No Man’s Sky community has only explored 1% of the planets the game has to offer.
This only means that the developers have a plan not only for No Man’s Sky Cosmos but also beyond that, providing players with more than enough content to keep the game alive and healthy.
