Is Roblox Shutting down in 2024? Rumors Explained

In Short
  • Roblox is a massive platform for players and creators, and creators are allowed to create almost anything.
  • The platform comes under a lot of criticism regarding kids' safety and moderation.
  • Luckily, Roblox will not shut down in 2024.

Despite being played by millions around the globe every day, Roblox is not immune to its fair share of rumors and feedback. While moderated, the platform does come under fire due to various reasons involving kids. That will naturally make you wonder if some action will be taken against the platform. With that said, is Roblox shutting down in 2024? Let us find out.

Is Roblox Shutting Down?

According to the latest information, Roblox is not shuting down in 2024. The Roblox corporation created this free-to-play platform, so shutting down a platform it is paying regular attention to seems very unlikely. Especially when Roblox is constantly conducting events like The Hunt or collaborating to bring Attack on Titan onto the platform. Certainly, the game is not going anywhere—at least for now.

Roblox already acknowledged this question of uncertainty in 2020. In an X (formerly Twitter) post, Roblox mentioned that these hoaxes float around every one or two years, and players need not worry about this situation.

In reply, players already said Roblox should clarify this every year, as one user commented, “Thank you for clearing this up! Now get ready to do it again in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, & 2025!” Well, Roblox might not be shutting down anytime soon, but the platform is huge, and there are too many experiences. So, Roblox removes some of the experiences to maintain its legal policies.

Is Roblox Safe for Kids?

The privacy of kids always comes as a concern for parents on platforms like Fortnite and Roblox. While Fortnite brought the new age restrictions and guidelines, Roblox does not have such a feature. The platform does have moderation but it still does not have extreme parental controls.

While the platform seems okay for kids, unfortunately, you can’t tell much behind the private servers. So, if you are a parent, keep an eye on your kids while they use Roblox.

As Roblox does not automatically include age restrictions or verification, it is not the best place for kids. However, moderation does play a key part, as in Roblox, creators can create almost anything from custom shirts, to game experiences.
