If you have joined Snapchat to make new friends or grow your circle, then having a good public profile is a must. As the name suggests, a public profile is what people who are not friends with you will see about you on your profile. So you need to make a good impression on them. But you’ll have to learn the basics first. In this guide, we’ll show you how to create a public profile on Snapchat.

Create Your Snapchat Public Profile

The option to create a Public profile is available on your Snapchat profile page. Do note that creating a Public profile means you agree to show your name on the Snaps shared on Spotlight or Snap Maps. If you are okay with that, here’s how you can create one for yourself.

  1. Open Snapchat and tap on your Bitmoji avatar in the top left corner.
  2. Here, select My Public Profile.
  3. Lastly, tap on OK on the confirmation pop-up.

This will create your Public profile page on the app.

Edit Public Profile on Snapchat

Creating your Public profile was just the start, if you want others to add you then you need to make your profile somewhat attractive. Let’s see what we can do about it.

  1. Tap on the edit icon on your Public profile page.
  2. Here, hit the avatar icon and pick a photo of yours. (You can use Bitmoji, but your photo will help build authenticity and trust).
  3. Once selected, tap on Save Changes to confirm.
  1. Next, add a Bio by tapping on the text field. Write something funny or interesting about yourself.
  2. You can turn on the toggle for Show follower count if you have a large following on the app.
  3. Then tap on Location, and add your current Town, City, or Country if you wish.
  4. After adding everything, tap on Preview Profile to see how it appears for others.

Add Stories to Snapchat Public Profile

Now that you have added the crucial items to build your Snapchat profile, it’s time to add some meat to it. By this, I mean add some content to help non-followers get an idea of what kind of content you create. To do this, you’ll need to add some stories to your profile.

  1. Visit your Public Profile from your Snapchat’s profile page.
  2. Go to the Stories tab and tap on New Story.
  3. Press Continue on the confirmation pop-up. Do read it before going forward.
  4. You can add new stories from Post archive, Memories, or Camera Roll.
  5. Once you have picked the stories to add, tap on Next.
  6. Tap on Next again, then add a title for your stories if you want, and press Finish.

They’ll be added to your Public account. Even people who have not added you as a friend or not following you will be able to see it.

That is how you can create, edit, and curate your Public profile on Snapchat. It’s a good concept to give people a glimpse of who you are so they can make up their minds. Plus, you don’t have to share everything about yourself unless you want to, or hide yourself completely behind a private account like how it is on Instagram. On that note, you can hide previously shared Snaps, Stories, and saved Memories using the app’s My Eyes Only feature as well.

Why can’t I create a public profile on Snapchat?

There are a few essential requirements that you need to meet before you can create a public profile on Snapchat. You can’t make a Snapchat public profile if you are less than 18 years of age, have had Snapchat for less than 24 hours, have less than 1 bidirectional friend (you follow each other), or you do not adhere to the community guidelines.

Is Snapchat subscriber count visible to the public?

While you can view your subscriber count from the moment you create a public profile, it will only appear to the public once you hit 100,000 subscribers on Snapchat. The subscriber count will automatically appear on your public profile, but you will get an option to toggle off/ on its visibility.

Can someone see if I view their public profile on Snapchat?

The answer is no. When you open someone’s Snapchat profile to check their username, subscriber count, lenses, or old Stories, then the user is not notified. You can easily navigate around their profile and its content at your own pace without having to worry about being called out for it.
