GTA 6 Map: All Rumored and Confirmed Locations so Far

In Short
  • As per the first trailer, GTA 6 is set in Vice City, in Leonida.
  • The trailer also reveals the locations of Vice City, including the returning Malibu Club and Ocean Drive.
  • Rumors suggest the GTA 6 map will be significantly larger (70%) than GTA 5's.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is almost nearing its release, and if we listen to the rumors, the game will have the biggest map in the franchise yet. Rockstar Games is already known for its massive open-world maps, so it would be fair to expect something bigger than ever. However, the questions surrounding the GTA 6 map size and location remain until the game finally drops. Thankfully, there is some information out there that can give us a hint.

In this guide, we have compiled the confirmed and rumored locations in GTA 6‘s Leonida. This includes the references from the Vice City map locations we saw in the trailer. We also included the map renditions from the mapping project based on all the leaks here. So, without further ado, let’s jump right into it.

What is the GTA 6 Map Location?

GTA 6 is set in Leonida state, and Vice City is a part of this massive state. Although the full state of Leonida featured hasn’t been confirmed yet, we see a glimpse of the Leonida state police in the first GTA 6 trailer. And of course, we see a whole overview of the Vice City map that resembles Miami. So, if we go by how Rockstar Games likes to keep things closer to reality, Leonida State might be based on the state of Florida.

GTA 6 Vice City Map

Like its real-world inspiration, Miami, Vice City in GTA 6 is characterized by vibrant neon lights, bustling nightclubs, and scenic beaches. The trailer highlights densely populated Vice City beaches, showcasing crowd density that exceeds previous Grand Theft Auto titles.

Vice City’s main strip, a potential central hub, is depicted as a chaotic mix of traffic, pedestrians, lights, and music. Beyond Vice City, the trailer reveals rural areas resembling Florida’s neighboring states like Georgia, with expansive highways and natural landscapes. A glimpse of GTA 6’s Everglades equivalent shows flooded grasslands teeming with wildlife and accessible by airboat.

GTA 6 Map Size (Speculations)

Leaks and fan theories suggest a map roughly twice the size of GTA 5, featuring three major cities, sub-cities, a central lake (Lake Leonida), and various landmarks that mirror Miami. The game world includes a functional tram system, an airport, and a diverse range of enterable interiors, such as nightclubs, supermarkets, and gun stores.

Wildlife, including alligators and bobcats, and environmental details, such as toxic waste indicators, are present in the game. Details from leaks show the protagonist’s apartments and a hotel called Kington Hotel, which features a pool party with live music.

Numerous attempts have been made to estimate and reconstruct the Grand Theft Auto 6 map using trailer footage and available information. Among these efforts, Dark Space’s YouTube video is particularly compelling. User Dark Space compiled theoretical data from Reddit and integrated real-world topographical data, resulting in a map reconstruction that is considered, so far, the most realistic.

Building upon Dark Space’s work, another user purportedly used mathematical calculations to estimate that the GTA 6 map will be 70% larger than that of GTA 5. Although these estimations seem very well put together, it’s important to approach these estimations with caution, as the complete GTA 6 map remains officially unrevealed.

GTA 6 Map Locations

The majority of the locations known to us are based on Vice City, with some returning locations from the first Vice City game. Will the GTA 6 Map Get New Cities Over Time?

One of the questions that has lingered for a while regarding the GTA 6 map is whether there will be more cities added to the game after its release. While Grand Theft Auto is known to release the full map right away, we cannot deny the success of GTA Online. And with the rumors of Rockstar Games creating a GTA 6 metaverse, we might get a new city with each seasonal update.

While there’s no official confirmation, a Grand Theft Auto map encompassing all previous cities is a highly desired concept among fans. Fans have already created custom maps merging locations like Liberty City, Los Santos, and Vice City, showcasing the potential of such an interconnected world. Although that seems quite unlikely if GTA 6 goes toward the direction of a Fortnite-like map that keeps changing, we might see more iconic cities in the game.

That is all we know about the GTA 6 map and its locations so far. Do you think the map size of Grand Theft Auto 6 will be the biggest ever? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
