Samsung has officially launched Samsung Mall and the Galaxy On7 Prime phone in India, which is the company’s Amazon-exclusive device. The device is priced starting at Rs 12,990 and will be available starting January 20.

Samsung is planning to launch an all-new online-only series of smartphones under the tag of “Samsung On” in an attempt to become a decent online competitor to Xiaomi. And the On7 Prime is the first model under this series.

It is powered by 1.6 GHz Exynos Octa-Core processor and will be available in two variants – 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. The latter is priced at Rs 14,990.

Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime Launched in India with Samsung Mall

The Galaxy On7 Prime is by no means a new device. In fact, it is essentially the same Galaxy On Nxt which was later released as the Galaxy J7 Prime. Essentially the same specs in a newish package, and with a new name. The most exciting part of the phone is the software additions by Samsung.

Samsung Mall and Samsung Pay Mini will be pre-installed on the device, as Samsung aims to upsell services to the mid-range segment.

Samsung Mall 1

Samsung Mall is essentially a shopping app with Bixby Vision like services that allow the user to shop based on image recognition. It has been present on Flipkart’s mobile app for a long time now, but Samsung gives you the unique ability to shoot or use existing pictures of any product to initiate a search across multiple e-commerce sites. Essentially, it’s an AI-powered shopping aggregator. The company has tied up with Amazon, Jabong, Shopclues, and Tata CLiQ for Samsung Mall feature.

In addition, the service brings an all-in-one shopping and universal cart to compare, review, and buy products from multiple portals through a single interface, at the same time.

The device also comes preloaded with Samsung Pay Mini and is supported by Samsung Mall, thus allowing you to make easy and swift payments using UPI or mobile wallets such as Paytm. Samsung Pay Mini will be integrated into the check-out experience to make things smoother for online shoppers using the phone.

With a full metal unibody design, the On7 Prime features a 5.5inch display, has a 13MP rear camera with f/1.9 and LED flash, and a 13MP front camera with f/1.9. Both the variants support expandable memory of up to 256GB. The Galaxy On7 Prime will be available in two colours – black and gold – when it goes on sale, starting January 20.
