Samsung Galaxy A80 With Rotating Slider Camera Silently Launched in India

Samsung continues to expand on its new budget/mid-range Galaxy A lineup in India, with the Galaxy A50 leading the charge. But, the one device that everyone had been waiting to arrive in India is the Galaxy A80 and it’s now finally here. In line with reports from earlier this month, Samsung has today launched its innovative Galaxy A80 with the slider-cum-rotating camera design in India at a steep price of Rs 47,999.

Galaxy A80: Price and Availability

There’s only a single configuration of the Galaxy A80 with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, which has been priced at Rs 47,999 as compared to the 3,799 yuan (roughly Rs 38,000) Chinese price tag.

The Galaxy A80 will be available in three color variants namely Angel Gold, Ghost White, and Phantom Black. The device will first be open for pre-booking from July 22 to July 31, with sales starting from August 1 across all popular online channels, offline retailers, and more.

Galaxy A80 boasts a glass and metal sandwich design, which only the innovative triple camera rotating module on the back. The physical fingerprint on the rear is absent and you’ll find a trendy in-display fingerprint sensor on this device.

Galaxy A80 is the first Samsung smartphone to feature the New Infinity display with no notch, punch-hole or intrusion to the viewing experience. This is a 6.7-inch Full-HD+ Super AMOLED panel, with 2400x1800p resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio. There’s no bezel up-top but you can see a tiny chin at the bottom.

The Galaxy A80 is the first smartphone to be powered by the Snapdragon 730G chipset (octa-core 2.2GHz Dual + 1.8GHz Hexa architecture), paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. It runs Android 9 Pie-based OneUI out-of-the-box and it’s definitely better than Samsung Experience UI from back in the day.

Galaxy A80 Cameras

Coming to the most notable feature of the Galaxy A80, the cameras here sit inside the auto-rotating module which needs to slide up too before you can use it as your selfie snapper. The triple rear cameras include a 48MP (f/2.0) primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 3D depth camera. The entire camera module is designed to pop-up from the back of the smartphone and rotate.

This camera setup looks really cool and will help you click detailed 48MP selfies, some ultra-wide-angle selfies, and improved portrait selfies as well. You overall selfie game would definitely see a massive improvement. There’s also a 3,700 mAh battery, with support for 25W fast charging onboard.
