1. Wordle
Wordle is the browser-based word-guessing game that is hyped up this year. The idea behind the game is simple, and playing it is ridiculously fun. Plus, the fact that you only get one puzzle a day (and it’s the same puzzle for everyone around the world) makes it a lot more fun and increases the stakes. You should play Wordle if you like word games, and pride yourself on your ability to guess words in a limited number of chances.
If you wanna learn more about Wordle, or play a game like Wordle without the daily limit, you should check out our article on everything to know about Wordle.

2. City Guesser
Fancy yourself to be a citizen of the world? City Guesser is a game that will excite you. You will be shown first-person videos of a random city in the world, and based on the environmental clues, you have to guess which city it is, and in which country. Once you’re ready to guess, you can place a marker on the world map and the game shows you how accurate you were.
For those who are looking for a slightly easier challenge, you can play the game on a country level too, so you can choose to only see cities within the United States, Canada, etc. Meanwhile, if you want to guess places while browsing the classic 360-degree Google Streetview, you can check out GeoGuessr or one of the best free GueoGuessr alternatives.

3. Freeciv-Web
If you love playing strategy games, and you prefer turn-based strategy over RTS games, FreeCiv-Web is something that will pique your interest. The free version of the popular Civilizations game is now also available to play on browsers, and you can either play its single-player or multiplayer modes with your friends.
While not my cup of tea, this is a great way to pass some time on your browser if you love turn-based strategy titles. What’s more, if you create an account, you can even save your game and return to it later.

4. War Brokers
This has got to be one of the most fun games I have played on a browser. If you’re a fan of FPS games, and you want something lightweight that you can play in your free time directly on your browser without having to download anything, you should check out War Brokers. You can play classic 8v8, battle royale, and more modes within the game, so no matter what mood you’re in, you will be able to find something to match your needs.

5. Abobo’s Big Adventure
Abobo’s Adventure is for those yearning for the classic Nintendo NES experience. This is an action RPG in which you play as Abobo from the Super Dragon franchise while fighting your way through villains like Donkey Kong and wave after wave of henchmen with different capabilities.
Controls are simple because of the linear navigation format, with the ‘A’ and ‘S’ keys being the only attack buttons for kicks and punches. Aside from the main quest, there are multiple additional levels with different characters from classic Nintendo franchises.

6. Powerline.io
If you loved the classic Snake and also liked Tron’s bike battles, Powerline.io is the game for you. The objective is to collect as many power-ups as you can to increase the length of your neon snake, which can be done using the arrow keys.
But do keep in mind that your snake will die as soon as its head touches another snake or its own glowing body. Also, if you slither closely to another neon snake, you’ll receive a speed boost. The premise is simple, but with a ton of players on the board, it becomes challenging to evade the traps created by their movements. It is one of my favorite browser games to play.

7. Street Skater
Street Skater is a retro-style skating game in which you control a skateboarder to perform some smooth ollies and kickflips. The goal is to collect as many coins as possible without dying. And with dying, I mean a gruesome death where your head flies off and the body is shattered to pieces like glass as soon as you hit an obstacle such as an iron bar, levitating boulder, etc. Just tap the space bar to jump and perform aerial tricks, while the shift button will slow you down a bit.

8. TacticsCore.io
One of the most visually refined browser games out there, TacticsCore.io puts you in a battle between two factions. You can choose from a wide array of war machines such as spider-tank, bomber, and Warhawks, among others. The gameplay is smooth and the controls are simple, with just a mouse and WASD keys enough to wreak havoc on the battlefield, by blowing some tanks and fighter jets. On a personal note, TacticsCore.io is hands down one of the most impressive browser games I’ve tried recently.

9. Linerider
If physics-based simulation games are your thing, Linerider will certainly put your knowledge and skills to the test. In the game, you are required to draw a track on which a boy sitting on a sled can ride. You can create paths that are smooth or you can also go for risky roads for doing stunts and some high-flying maneuvers after using the speed button, but don’t draw some unrealistic paths. When you are finished drawing, simply hit the play button to test your luck.

Skribbl is one of those games that gained massive popularity amidst the coronavirus pandemic. It is a simple multiplayer drawing and guessing game you can play with friends and family or even with strangers on the internet. One of the players will be drawing objects to represent the words. Your task is to rightly guess the word before others do. You can make use of the hints at the top of the page to know a few letters of the word and the number of letters for guessing the word better.

11. Nightpoint
Fans of the zombie genre will love Nightpoint, a multi-player action RPG game in which you fight hordes of zombies and also compete against other players on the leaderboard. But there is a difference here. Instead of just blasting off walking deads, you also have to take cover from the bullets shots by rivals and have to upgrade your arsenal to take them out one by one. A piece of advice here- use a mouse to quickly shoot and change the direction, because the trackpad is not of much use in the game, especially when you are surrounded by zombies and shotgun-toting rivals.

12. Threes
If you liked 2048, you will almost certainly fall in love with its predecessor, Threes. The game’s objective is simple – make the highest number possible by combining number tiles before the board fills, and you can no longer move any more tiles. But there’s a catch. The number ‘1’ only combines with a tile numbered ‘2’. Any tile labeled with the number 3 or higher will only combine with an identical tile. The most challenging part is that one arrow keypress will move the entire board, so planning mergers is a huge risk.

If you want to pass the time engaged in a dogfight and blasting jets in the air, Wings.io is the perfect solution. The game is best played using a mouse. Just move it to change the course of your fighter jet and keep the left button pressed to shoot lasers and bullets as well as drop bombs on your enemies. And don’t forget to collect items like health and weapon upgrades parachuting down the skies to continue your rampage and top the charts. As far as browser games go, this is one of the best.

14. Sunset Bike Racer
If you are a fan of bike racing and stunts, this might be the right game. In Sunset Bike Racer, you control a biker who zooms past an uneven terrain on a dirtbike and performs daredevil stunts. The controls are simple as well – press space to speed up, the left/ right arrow key to spin in the air, Shift to boost, and Ctrl to press the brake.
The first few levels are simple, but as you progress in the game, a slight delay in applying the brake or a wrong stunt means the game is over. If you love racing and stunts, this is one of the best browser games you can play.

15. Copter
Copter is a classic Flash game that you might have probably played if you’re old enough. Although Flash is now discontinued and you should remove Flash from your machine right now, the Internet Archive collaborated with the Ruffle emulator to host iconic Flash games. If you have never heard of Copter, you can say it was the Flappy Bird of the previous generation. You’ve to make sure that the helicopter doesn’t hit obstacles and go as far as you can by pressing and holding the left mouse button whenever needed. While it may sound simple, let me tell you that it is not easy as it sounds.

18. Tetris
Some games never go out of vogue and Tetris is the best proof of it. The popular block arrangement game has come a long way from being a staple on consoles with a black-and-white screen to the colorful variation we are suggesting here. The goal remains the same – earn points by clearing horizontal lines, but it’s the neon-colored blocks that add a freshness to the classic game that will surely help you kill some time during breaks.

19. Snail Bob
Snail Bob is a strategy-based game that requires a combination of perfect timing and some physics skills to rescue a snail from various scenarios. No button-smashing is required here because all you need is a strategic mindset and quick fingers to lead the snail to the exit door. The premise is straightforward, but the mechanical traps and the coordinated mechanism of individual parts make it increasingly complex to help the snail as you progress through the levels.

20. Shell Shockers
Shell Shockers is a very different kind of shooting game. Instead of blasting heads and machines, you are required to shoot eggs and gain energy from, well, eggs. By the way, you play as an egg too. There are four classes of players to choose from, including scrambler and eggsploder. Each player is equipped with a different weapon suited for long-range and close-quarter gunfights. Get ready with your office mouse and practice your fingers on the WASD keys, because shell Shockers will keep you engaged for some time.

Ubisoft created Prince of Persia’s flash-based game to popularize the original Prince of Persia game. Much like Copter, you can play the game through the Ruffle emulator. The game is incredibly fun and you won’t regret playing it. The controls are simple too – you can use the arrow keys to control the character’s movement and the up arrow key to jump if needed. This is one of my favorite browser games to play.

26. slither.io
There is a lot to like in “slither.io”. For starters, this massively multiplayer online game has interesting gameplay wherein players have to control an avatar resembling a worm that eats multicolored pallets to grow in size. And as a player, you have an uphill task of growing the longest worm in the server.
If the gameplay seems to be a bit simple to you, let me alert you that other players aren’t going to let you have your way so easily. And unless you hatch a killer strategy, chances are pretty high that your worm won’t grow beyond a certain length. If you enjoy this game and want to play similar games, check out our list of Slither.io alternatives.

Thunder is one of those games that seem easy but turns out tougher than you imagined. In the game, thunder strikes the floor from the top and you should tactically escape the incoming bolt. The catch here is that the points system is linked to the thunder. As soon as the thunder hits the floor, gold particles appear, collecting which gives you the score. Another fun FPS browser game that you can try is Krunker.io. This is a little bit of a unique FPS game. It’s fast-paced, but in a way that makes it difficult to master the movement.
