I Played Marvel Rivals Avengers Infinity War PvP Mode for Hours – These Are the Best Characters

After delivering game modes related to The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, NetEase Games is back with another new game in Season 10.5. The all-new Avengers: Infinity War is a 2v2 PvP mode tied to the Infinity Stones. As the new mode is based on the Infinity War movie, players can pick one of 13 Avengers heroes for the whole match. After playing the new mode for hours, we ranked all the characters in Marvel Rivals Avengers: Infinity War PvP mode (from best to worst) to find the best heroes.

All Marvel Rivals Avengers: Infinity War PvP Mode Characters Ranked From Best to Worst

The Avengers: Infinity War mode was introduced in Marvel Rivals Season 10.5. Only 13 heroes from the Marvel Rivals hero roster are available in the new mode. All the characters retain their original kit, but you can upgrade their abilities with the new upgrade cards.

We have tested each hero in the new mode by playing numerous matches in a row; here are all the best characters to pick in Marvel Rivals Avengers: Infinity War PvP mode:

Winter Soldier

Winter Soldier, aka Bucky, is undoubtedly the best pick for Avengers: Infinity War PvP mode. He continues to rank at the top of Marvel Rivals tier lists and is the same here in the new PvP mode. As everyone knows, Bucky is an excellent hero when it comes to 1v1 fights, and he really shines in the new mode.

You can power up the already overpowered Bucky by picking the right upgrades between each round. If you play your cards right, you can single-handedly destroy the opponent teams. Make sure to upgrade your firing speed, increase your total shots, and also Tainted Voltage to deal with the annoying aerial heroes.

Captain America

Next up, Captain America, Bucky’s partner, is the best tank to pick in the new Avengers mode. Before you come at us with pitchforks, let me explain why. Yes, the base version of Cap can be slow and struggle to deal a good amount of damage. But keep in mind that survivability is equally important as damage in this PvP mode.

Moreover, you can turn Cap into a beast with the right upgrades. You can throw multiple ricocheting shields, significantly improve all his abilities, and more. Lastly, Captain America’s ultimate ability in Marvel Rivals can not only save you but also your teammate in dire times. So, one cannot go wrong with Cap unless they don’t know how to play this character.

Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch, aka Wanda Maximoff, was one of the best characters to pick in the Avengers: Age of Ultron PvE mode in Marvel Rivals. She once again comes out on top as a great pick for Infinity War PvP mode. Scarlet can dish out great damage once you have upgraded all her abilities.

Use Mystic Projection to constantly reposition and combine your primary and secondary attacks to keep pressuring the enemy team. On top of it, Wanda’s Reality Erasure ultimate ability is a game changer in this mode as well. You can pop off your ult early or boost its range and effect to easily wipe out the enemy squad.

Black Panther

Next up, the King of Wakanda is a solid choice for players who prefer fast-paced melee Duelists in Marvel Rivals. Black Panther also simply excels when it comes to 1v1 fights. With a spacious arena set in the fields of Wakanda, T’Challa is very hard to take down in the new PvP mode.

Especially when you upgrade all of Black Panther’s abilities with enhancement cards, he becomes unstoppable in the game. However, keep in mind that Black Panther will also struggle against aerial heroes like Iron Man, and that’s the only downside to him we’ve noticed so far.

Rocket Raccoon

Only two Strategists are available in the Avengers: Infinity War PvP mode, and Rocket Raccoon is easily the strongest. The things Rocket can do in this mode make you wonder if he’s been holding back all this time in the normal game modes in Marvel Rivals.

While many don’t recommend picking a Strategist in PvP mode, Rocket is a good choice as he excels at both healing and dealing damage. Moreover, Rocket can combine his Bombard (primary fire) and Repair (heal) to deal continuous critical damage against enemies. In addition, his ultimate ability is once again a lifesaver in a crisis.

Iron Man

Many would agree that Tony Stark was the MVP in the final Avengers movies. Likewise, Iron Man is one of the best characters in Marvel Rivals Avengers: Infinity War mode. In case you didn’t know, Iron Man was reborn as a new Duelist thanks to the latest buffs in Marvel Rivals Season 10.5. Tony finally received auto-tracking capabilities for his missile barrages.

Now, Iron Man is a missile machine in the Avengers: Infinity War PvP mode. We recommend you upgrade only his missile abilities. Then you just need to press C once, and you can automatically keep unleashing missiles for a long time.

And the best part is you can use your other abilities to deal even more damage while the auto-lock missiles are already punishing enemies on the battlefield. But Iron Man becomes prey for heroes like Winter Soldier, Wanda, Spidey, etc.

Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange is the second-best Vanguard to pick in Avengers: Infinity War PvP mode. You can play him similarly to how you would in normal game modes in Marvel Rivals, which is to primarily shield your teammate and strike when there is a window.

Or you can fine-tune his offensive abilities to turn Strange into an aggressive Sorcerer Supreme in the new Marvel Rivals mode. After Cap, I found Doctor Strange to be a reliable pick who can work perfectly with any other heroes in Infinity War PvP mode. As always, if you time Doctor Strange’s Eye of Agamotto ultimate ability correctly, it lets you turn the tide in your favor.

Spider-Man

Spider-Man, the friendly neighborhood hero, is a decent pick in Avengers: Infinity War PvP mode. If you are someone who doesn’t know how to play this character, then refrain from picking Spidey. Even if you are a Spidey lord in Marvel Rivals, you can still struggle in the 1v1 fights.

The main reason Spider-Man doesn’t shine is that the arena makes it tough to swing around and execute his combos. But as Spidey, you can catch and eliminate aerial heroes like Iron Man or the ultra-mobile strategist like Rocket. So, go with Spidey only if you have mastered this character.

Star-Lord

At first, Star-Lord seemed like a great pick for 2v2 fights in Avengers: Infinity War PvP mode, but you quickly realize he’s average at best in the new mode. It may be because the build I aimed for didn’t work well. Nevertheless, if you are struggling to play as other Duelists in this mode, you can still opt for Peter Quill.

He deals good damage in close range, and his damage numbers can be improved. You can use his Rocket Propulsion to quickly reach the extra health pack available in the centre of the arena. Finally, his Galactic Legend ultimate ability still packs a punch even in this mode.

Thor

I wish NetEase Games had added an option to let players use both Stormbreaker and Mjolnir, as Thor does in the final Avengers movies. However, the devs decided to use the same hero kits for the PvP mode as mentioned earlier. Similar to his performance in Avengers: Age of Ultron PvE mode, Thor didn’t work out well in the Infinity War PvP mode in our time with the character.

Even after using all the upgrade cards to boost his damage output, Thor still couldn’t become the God of Thunder I had hoped he could be in the new mode. So, only Thor mains go for this character, and players who prefer playing Tank can play either Cap or Doctor Strange.

Groot

Groot in Avengers Infinity War PvP mode

Groot doesn’t hit as hard as he does in other game modes of Marvel Rivals. So, Groot doesn’t stand out as a good choice compared to other Vanguard options in Avengers: Infinity War PvP mode. His walls and Spore Bombs don’t have the impact you hope for in the new mode.

So, you are forced to rely on your regular Vine Strikes, and honestly, it doesn’t get much better from here as well. We barely spotted any Groots in our Avengers: Infinity War PvP mode matches, and now we know why.

Mantis

Mantis in Avengers Infinity War PvP mode

In recent times, Mantis has emerged as one of the best Strategists in Marvel Rivals, thanks to a series of buffs. However, the very same Mantis is also the weakest Strategist in Avengers: Infinity War PvP mode. Be it dealing damage on the front lines or staying back to heal your duo partner, Mantis falls short in both.

When the enemy team has an Iron Man or Black Panther, it’s game over for Mantis. It’s tough to survive against these characters as a Mantis in PvP mode. If you only want to play a Strategist in PvP mode, then you are better off with Rocket Raccoon.

Black Widow

In last place, we have Black Widow in Marvel Rivals. Black Widow’s reworked kit in Marvel Rivals wasn’t enough to make a difference in the previous Avengers: Age of Ultron mode, and the story continues in the Infinity War PvP mode. It’s hard to nail her rifle shots, especially against highly mobile duelists like Spider-Man or Black Panther.

And her Ultimate Ability also doesn’t make a huge difference, even with all the upgrades, in this mode. So, overall, Black Widow is not a strong pick for Avengers: Infinity War PvP, even as a support character.

And that’s everything you need to know about the best characters in Marvel Rivals Avengers: Infinity War PvP mode. Let us know who your number 1 pick is in the comments below.
