Anime shows never fails to surprise the fans with its complex, unique, and entertaining narratives. However, an anime is incomplete if it doesn’t spice things up and give you goosebumps by focusing on the theme of love. In short, almost every anime has couples at the forefront of the narrative, or has their romance brewing in the background. Keeping that in mind, here are some of the best and most legendary anime couples that live rent-free in our heads.

10. Miyo Saimori & Kudou Tomioka
- Anime: My Happy Marriage
Miyo Saimori was forced to end up in an arranged marriage and sent to Kudou Tomioka’s residence. Initially, Kudou was believed to be a heartless person who behaves strangely around women. Miyo was treated badly by her stepmother, stepsister, and biological father after her mother’s demise, so she started believing that she deserved nothing good.
However, after meeting Kudou, she starts realizing that the things she hears about Kudou aren’t true. In fact, he is a man with a heart of gold. Initially, Kudou behaves coldly with Miyo due to his past experiences, but as he starts to know the innocent Miyo, he starts showing his other, more beautiful and empathetic side.
9. Hinata & Naruto
- Anime: Naruto
If Hinata and Naruto aren’t the true definitions of “couple goals,” who else is? When Naruto was busy working on his ambitions, Hinata couldn’t resist falling in love with him. Hinata loved Naruto since childhood, but she couldn’t admit her feelings in front of him. The more Naruto stood by her at every step of life, the more Hinata admired him.
That being said, Naruto’s fighting spirit and selfless acts toward others pulled Hinata towards him. Naruto didn’t notice her feelings until the Pain Arc and the franchise made fans wait for the adorable anime couple to get together until The Last: Naruto the Movie. 8. Eren & Mikasa

Eren & Mikasa showed us the true meaning of love. Mikasa lost her family when she was nine years old, and before she would have been killed by the ones who murdered her family, Eren showed up. Eren saves her life, and the duo starts living together at Eren’s residence. The boy stood by her through thick and thin. When Eren’s mother was eaten by a Titan, the duo joined the Survey Corps and fought several battles together.
When Eren realized the truth about him and the Titans, he ill-treated Mikasa so that she could hate him. However, the former confessed his feelings in the series finale episode, making us realize how selfless love can be. Also, despite loving Eren the most, Mikasa chose to kill him for the sake of humanity.
7. Kyoko & Izumi
- Anime: Horimiya
The phrase “Opposites attract” goes well in the case of Kyoko and Izumi. Kyoko Hori appears to be a bubbly girl in school, but on the outside, she is the exact opposite. On the other hand, Izumi Miyamura seems to be an introverted boy in school, but he follows an entirely different lifestyle when outside. Initially, things weren’t pleasant for the couple, but eventually, they became good friends who never failed to support each other.
Seeing Izumi’s helpful nature, Kyoko couldn’t resist admiring him. However, the duo never confessed anything to each other because they didn’t want to ruin their friendship. It wasn’t until the last year of high school that Izumi decided to propose to Kyoko for marriage, and we got to see our favorite anime couple getting together.
6. Miyuki & Kaguya
- Anime: Kaguya-sama: Love Is War
What happens when two arrogant people start harboring feelings for each other? Miyuki and Kaguya are the most egoistical people you may ever meet. Both of them sit at the top position of the Student Council; Miyuki is the president, while Kaguya is the vice president.
Despite having feelings for each other, they begin playing psychological games to make the other confess first. Things weren’t sorted between them until they realized that they could lose each other if they didn’t give up on their arrogance and admit their true feelings for each other.
5. Sawako & Kazehaya
- Anime: Kimi No Todoke
Sawako is bullied by her classmates because her name resembles the ghost from a horror movie franchise. However, when the most popular boy in the school, Kazehaya, befriends her, things get easier for her at school.
Students who previously bullied Sawako started behaving nicely with her. Kazehaya liked her since he first saw her, but Sawako couldn’t notice it because of her low self-esteem. However, they seemed destined to be together, and that’s why, even after facing so many ups and downs, Kazehaya and Sawako eventually became a couple.
4. Loid & Yor
- Anime: Spy X Family
One of the most adorable couples the anime community has been blessed with is Yor and Loid from Spy X Family. The latter had to live the life of a common man to lead a secret mission, so he adopted Anya from an orphanage and got involved with Yor in a fake marriage for the same. However, Yor initially wanted to be a part of the drama for her own benefit, but that changed later.
Despite living under one roof, Loid and Yor managed to keep their true identities hidden from each other. Until now, Loid has denied having any romantic feelings towards Yor, but the latter has already started developing feelings for him. Given that the manga is still ongoing, we will surely see the fake couple emerge as real.
3. Tomo & Junichirou
- Anime: Tomo-Chan Is a Girl
Tomo has always been a tomboy with feelings for her childhood buddy, Junichirou. However, Junichirou sees her only as a friend and admires her as Tomo can beat the crap out of any boy with her physical strength. Since Tomo wants to get noticed by Junichirou, she tries to bring her feminine side out.
Jun realizes his feelings for Tomo in Volume 6 but remains silent. Later, in Volume 7, he proposes to Tomo in front of a huge crowd. Seeing Tomo and Junichirou getting together after so long was surely a sight that most fans will never forget.
2. Akane & Akito
- Anime: My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999
Akane from My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999 is a simple yet fun-loving girl who got cheated on by her previous boyfriend. Despite being less tech-savvy, she enjoys playing games and is really good at it. Akane never thought she could find true love after her boyfriend left her for some other girl, but that was before she met Akito, the professional gamer who always had big sponsors chasing him.
Akito was never relationship material because pixelated gaming worlds made more sense to him than the real world. However, both characters’ destinies have something else planned for them. So, seeing Akane and Akito as an anime couple defy all odds to stay close never gets boring.
1. Touka & Kaneki
- Anime: Tokyo Ghoul
Touka and Kaneki’s initial interactions weren’t pleasant. Touka met Kaneki for the first time at a cafe where she served him coffee. Later, when Kaneki’s date turned into a half-ghoul, Touka started hating him. She even motivated Kaneki to die instead of living like a blood-sucking monster in this beloved anime. However, later in the story, the duo becomes friends.
Throughout the series, Kaneki and Touka face frightening situations together before finally confessing their feelings for each other. Touka and Kaneki’s story tells us that the feeling of love is so strong that it can prevent anyone from becoming a monster.
On the contrary, love lets someone get a peek inside someone’s beautiful soul, who is otherwise considered a monster by the rest of the world.
