YouTube Music 2024 Recap Is Here and Lets You Meet Your Musical Alter Ego

Compared to Spotify Wrapped 2024, YouTube is a bit early to the party as YouTube Music 2024 Recap is here. For the uninformed, just like Spotify’s yearly Wrapped, YouTube Music Recap lets you take a look at your total listening hours, most listened to artists, albums, and more. However, this year, YouTube Music brought a little extra something called a “music character” to its 2024 Recap.

Before we get into it, if you are new to YouTube Music, here’s how to access and wrap your head around this year’s Recap in the first place:

• Head over to the YouTube Music app on your iPhone or Android phone.
• Right underneath the Speed dial panel, which replaced Listen Again not too long ago, you will find the dedicated Recap 2024 banner. Tap on it.
• Next, you can easily tap on the Get your Recap button and take a look at your TikTok-like recap of your year on the app.

You can also find the Recap page by tapping on your profile icon at the top right -> Your Recap.

You can tap on the dedicated Top tracks, Top artists, Listening timeline, and other pages to jump straight to the respective YouTube Music Recap 2024 data. On the most important slides, you will also find a download button to easily save the page as an image on your phone.

Additionally, you can also Share a slide straight from here to Instagram, WhatsApp, or any other platform.

I like the vibes of the YouTube Music Recap 2024 this year, as it’s more sprinkled with colors than ever. Right off the bat, you also get a quick look at the kind of vibes your musical listening exhibits. Mine were apparently Perky, Swoon, Sunny, and Pop music.

However, it was the 16th page that grabbed my attention. Much like how Spotify Wrapped assigns you a “music personality” on the basis of your listening data, the YouTube Music Recap 2024 this year showed me “My music character.” Turns out, I’m cut out to be “The Undercover Agent” if my year was a movie, and I,

“I love disguises, skipping original recording in favor of remixes, covers and live performances.”

I guess all those John Mayer and Eric Clapton live performances turned the tide toward this. And, as always, there’s a custom YouTube Recap 2024 created for you, which is always a nice thing. I always take a good look at these custom playlists every year to see how my music taste has evolved.
