Disney's Imagineer Lanny Smoot is working on an omnidirectional VR treadmill, which they are calling the HoloTile Floor. Using this, not just a single person but multiple people can enjoy the VR world without colliding with each other or surrounding real-life objects. Free movement has been a challenge with VR for quite some time now, but this will fix that problem completely. Moreover, Scoot also talks about how this can double down as a tool for theatrical performances.
