At a certain moment in the A Space and Time for You Archon quest, Direidyth will ask for a memento from the Traveler. What Happens If You Give the Key to Direidyth
When you give the key to Direidyth, the time freezes for a moment and Direidyth becomes completely still. This is also when the Traveler’s sibling appears, revealing about Istaroth’s interference in sending Direidyth to the future in order to distract him/her from protecting Khaenri’ah during the Cataclysm.
After the discussion ends, a cutscene begins where there is an emotional exchange between the Traveler and the sibling. Once the mission ends, the ‘Key to the Hybernation Chamber’ will be absent from your inventory.
What Happens If You Keep the Key Instead
Now, if you decide to keep the key instead of giving it to Direidyth, the same flow of events happen as mentioned above, but with a slight change at the very end. To keep the events experienced by the sibling 500 years ago unchanged, he or she will give their key to Direidyth instead. While throwing the key, the following dialogue will also be said by the sibling to the traveler:
I know you always want to change fate — we both do. But this time, I won’t let you succeed. I cannot miss the chance to reunite with you five hundred years in the past — no matter what.
After the sibling throws the key to Direidyth, the same emotional cutscene will ensue as mentioned earlier. However, once the mission ends, the ‘Key to the Hybernation Chamber’ will be present in your inventory this time.
Which Choice Should You Pick?
Although both the choices lead to mostly the same outcome, the choice of keeping the key seems to be the more sensible option. This choice lets you see the extra dialogue while letting you keep the ‘Key to the Hybernation Chamber.’ Whether this decision will affect the Traveler later down the line is unknown, but it’s always better to hold onto an item than losing it.
