Recently, OnePlus officially revealed the OxygenOS 14 launch date, and now, its Android 14-based update has finally been introduced. In addition, the company started rolling out the OxygenOS 14 Open Beta 1 for the OnePlus 11 5G in India and North America. So, we already had an idea of what was coming. Now, with the details being officially confirmed by the smartphone maker, we have a concrete idea of all that you can expect from the OxygenOS 14 update. Without any further ado, let’s get right into it!
OxygenOS 14 Release Date
Although OnePlus has officially revealed all that the OxygenOS 14 update will bring to the table, there is no confirmation about when the update will start rolling out to OnePlus smartphones. However, we can make a couple of assumptions.
Recently, Google delayed the Android 14 launch to October 4, 2023. This falls in line with the Google Pixel 8 series launch date. So, we all can actually expect the OxygenOS 14 stable update to roll out globally sometime later, once Google wraps up its launch. OnePlus is already beta testing the release with OnePlus 11 users, with the schedule for the rest of the lineup linked below.
OxygenOS 14 New Features
The Android 14-based OxygenOS 14 revamps a lot of the proprietary OnePlus features such as the Aquamorphic Design, HyperBoost, etc. However, you will also get to see brand new features make it to your OnePlus device, thanks to the latest update.
For starters, OnePlus has introduced a new Security Centre, which acts as an all-in-one space for you to detect vulnerabilities as well as find all of your device’s Security & Privacy settings. We already have OxygenOS 14 Open Beta update installed on our OnePlus 11, so here’s a screenshot of what it looks like:
Additionally, OxygenOS 14 also brings Device Security Engine 3.0, which adds a TEE (Trusted Execution Environment) backed layer of security to protect against malicious cracking attempts against your device. So, in terms of security, the new update is surely taking things a step forward.
Then comes the Notes 2.0 feature that takes the Notes app to the next level. With Notes 2.0, you get to see features like different-sized text, creative fonts, and more. Then there’s also “smart categorization” that allows you to find relevant content within the Notes app easily and edit it, hassle-free.
Moving on, we see OnePlus focusing on reducing carbon footprint and spreading awareness about the same. They have introduced this in the form of the brand new Go Green Always On Display. With this, you get to see new intuitive eco-friendly AOD themes that change as your number of steps increases. The more you walk, the closer you get to creating a healthier environment.
Additional OxygenOS 14 features that will further elevate your overall software experience on OnePlus phones are:
- Auto Pixelate 2.0
- Photo Permission Management
- Smart Cutout for photos
- File Dock
- Multi-Screen Connect 2.0
