Marvel Rivals Gorr Kit and Abilities

  • Role: Duelist
  • Difficulty: 4 stars
  • Health: 350 HP

Contrary to everyone’s predictions, Gorr the God Butcher is a melee-focused Duelist in Marvel Rivals Season 10. His massive physique might give off the look of a Vanguard; however, he is a dive-and-brawler hybrid Duelist in the game.

Gorr has a wide variety of attacking and elusive options at his disposal. For starters, he wields a shape-shifting sword that can be turned into a scythe at times. Then, he summons mini creatures called the Black Berserkers, who attack the enemies in various ways under his command. He can even switch places with these minions, like how Loki teleports using his clones.

Although Gorr’s kit may seem simple on the surface, there is more to it than what meets the eye. There is a reason why he is a Duelist with a 4-star difficulty. If you are wondering what all you can do with Gorr’s Necrosword, here are all of his abilities in the game:

How to Play Gorr the God Butcher in Marvel Rivals: Best Strategy Guide

Now that you have a grasp of Gorr’s kit in Marvel Rivals, it’s time to put that knowledge to use. Unfortunately, Gorr’s kit isn’t as straightforward as the previous hero, The Hood in Marvel Rivals. There are many elements at play, and the best way to play the God Butcher is to combine his abilities in different sequences.

After experimenting with the new dive Duelist for hours, here is the best way to begin reaping as Gorr in Marvel Rivals:

Offensive Strategy: Slide Into the Backline

Gorr’s playstyle is similar to Magik, not Black Cat in Marvel Rivals. The swordplay and teleporting ability make them two peas in a pod. However, Gorr’s teleportation works differently. Summoning the Black Berserkers is the most important ability in Gorr’s kit. Here is how to play offensively as Gorr in Marvel Rivals:

  • First, pick your target in the backline and send one of your Black Berserkers near him/her.
  • Then, use your Living Abyss to glide across the battlefield and reach the target.
  • Doing so will automatically enable the Necroverse, and tick damage applies to enemies within range. All this damage will be converted into bonus health (up to 175 HP) for Gorr.
  • You can then press E and summon another minion.
  • Now use Necro-Power to order all the summoned Black Berserkers to gang up against the opponent.
  • Then join the assault. Try to attack as much as you can with your primary attack.
  • The Ragnarök team-up with Hela is the best pick. Using it immediately unlocks the Scythe transformation
  • Scythe deals much more damage and has a longer range than your regular Necrosword, so try to fight with the Scythe most of the time.
  • Use this strategy repeatedly whenever you plan to engage in a fight.

  • Using Living Abyss to glide into the battlefield in marvel rivals

  • Gorr Sycthe attack in Marvel Rivals

Defensive Strategy: Escape With the Help of Minions

Since Gorr has an unusual hitbox size for a Duelist, he can be easily targeted and eliminated if you don’t pay close attention. Thankfully, Gorr is a highly mobile character like most of the Duelist characters in Marvel Rivals. So, you can escape from any situation if you play your cards right. You always need an escape route before you initiate an attack, and here are the many ways you can survive as Gorr:

  • First, do not use Living Abyss to escape. This ability was designed to kick off fights, not to escape from one.
  • So whenever you use Living Abyss to get near an enemy, do it from a safe location, as a Black Berserker is automatically dropped at the exact place where you start using this ability.
  • In case of an emergency, you can just turn back and use Shadow Harvest to teleport back to the safe location. Now you can understand why developers intended Living Abyss for attack.
  • The first step in mastering Gorr is to learn how to manage these Black Berserkers.
  • Retreating from a battle is as important as engaging in a fight. And the best way to retreat is by using your Black Berserkers. Remember that!
  • So, similar to Magik, your approach to a battle should be jumping in with Living Abyss and then escaping with the Shadow Harvest ability.

Best Strategy: Don’t Be Afraid of Dying

Now that you have learned how to initiate attacks and escape out of a battle as Gorr, here are some of the best tips and tricks that everyone needs to know:

  • Always unleash Gorr’s ultimate ability in Marvel Rivals when your team is attacking with you. Although the Annihilablade is great, I won’t recommend using the ult when you are cornered.
  • Learn some essential combos like: E (Black Berserker) -> L Shift (Living Abyss) -> RMB (Necro-Power) -> LMB (All-Black) -> F (Shadow Harvest) and E (Black Berserker) -> RMB (Necro-Power) -> LSHIFT (Living Abyss) -> LMB (All-Black) -> C (Ragnarök).
  • It’s totally fine to die when you are diving at first, as Gorr lacks regular double jumps and wall climbing like other duelists.
  • However, learn different ways to use your minions, and you can secure at least a kill or two whenever you dive.
  • Always use Necro-Power when you have more than two minions on the battlefield, so that they can deal serious damage and launch the enemy in the air.
  • Don’t rely only on the Shadow Harvest ability to turn your sword into a Scythe. Use the team-up Ragnarok to perform a sweep attack and instantly get a Scythe
  • Attacking with Scythe as Gorr in Marvel Rivals
  • Gorr Necropower attack in Marvel Rivals
  • Gorr's Ultimate in Marvel Rivals
  • Gorr's Annihilablade in Marvel Rivals

So, here are the best heroes who are perfect counters to Gorr in Marvel Rivals:

  • Hela: Gorr has a massive hitbox like a tank, and it is his main weakness. So, you can pick Hela and quickly eliminate him with rapid shots.
  • Iron Man: Well, if you cannot go against Gorr on the ground, then pick an aerial hero like Iron Man. Gorr struggles against heroes in the air, so you can easily finish him off as Iron Man.
  • Namor: Namor can hold his fort easily against a dive character like Gorr with his turrets.
  • Peni Parker: Peni is always a great pick against dive characters in Marvel Rivals. As Peni, you can set your mines and guard your backline against Gorr without any hassle.
  • Luna Snow: If you are a Strategist main, then going with a character like Luna Snow allows you to pin down Gorr. It is easy to freeze him while he dives, thanks to his big hitbox. Then you can defeat him either solo or with the help of your squad.
