After her debut, Black Cat is now being considered as one of the best heroes in the Marvel Rivals hero tier list. She is a highly agile duelist brimming with special abilities. Akin to the fearsome warrior, Black Panther, Black Cat’s basic attack (LMB) is a razor-sharp melee attack with her claws.

Next up, the lucky thief also has three passive abilities that make her the elusive duelist she is in the game. The first passive Stealthy Catwalk lets Black Cat crawl up walls just like Spider-Man. Then, the Malkin Misfortune is the craziest passive we have ever seen so far, which allows Black Cat to apply Jinx to her foes upon a hit.

Those who got jinxed by Black Cat will have a tough time dealing damage to her, as sometimes they will lose their chance to do bonus damage with a critical hit. The Malkin Misfortune isn’t the only thing passive that activates upon attack, but also the Sticky Paws. Black Cat will earn a certain amount of Fortune points upon landing an attack on her enemy successfully.

These Fortune points are the key to unleashing her special abilities. Thus, check out the entire fortune-themed kit of Black Cat, including her ultimate ability and team-ups in Marvel Rivals, below:

Now that you have learned all the different movesets and abilities of Black Cat in Marvel Rivals Season 7.5, it’s time to learn how to put all the abilities to use in a match. As we mentioned earlier, Black Cat is a flanking duelist in Marvel Rivals, similar to Black Panther, Psylocke, etc. So, your ideal target should always be Strategists and Duelists first before you move on to punish the Vanguards.

Since Black Cat’s special abilities require a fortune cost, you need to earn enough fortune by attacking the enemies in sight. You can either strike them with her default melee attack, use the grappling hook ability, or lunge forward at your enemy to steal the fortune. From what we have observed so far, melee strikes give +50 fortune, grappling offers +250/300 fortune, and lunging attacks grant +150 fortune per hit.

Once you have secured enough fortune, this is where the real game begins for Black Cat. With fortune points by your side, the reliable and aggressive attack to deal damage is Fortune’s Favor ability. Just hold your RMB, and you will see either Claw Whip or the Phantom Pursuit attack option.

Both these attacks deal heavy damage and should be used depending on the situation. For example, if an enemy, say White Fox, tries to escape when they reach low health, you can chase and finish them off with a Phantom Pursuit attack. Not to forget that these attacks also return some fortune points if you successfully land a hit.

Next, the Gilded Deal ability opens up a whole new set of scenarios as Black Cat now has more special powers at her disposal with the relics. The key to surviving and winning fights as a Black Cat depends on how well you can chain these abilities in succession.

For instance, you can use the Tablet of Destinies relic to gamble your luck and try to earn extra fortune. Then, you can place the Faltine Flame Orb to reveal your enemy locations. As a follow-up, you can get near them (without getting caught), use Helm of Hades to turn invincible, and start pouncing on the backline.

This is just one of the many ways you can chain Black Cat’s abilities, and now you can understand why the skill ceiling is way high for our new duelist hero. As for immediately exiting a battle, you can rely on Black Cat’s double jump, lunging, invisibility, or the Doctor Strange-esque portal abilities.

Lastly, Black Cat’s ultimate ability, which will soon be dubbed one of the best ultimates in Marvel Rivals (we’re sure of that!), is like the icing on the cake. Once you unleash her Calling Cards, all the enemies in the surrounding area will now be marked as you turned on Wall Hacks. Now, Black Cat is free to pounce on her enemy (she can dash even up to 60 metres) and follow up with a powerful slash that can easily eliminate the squishy heroes.

Alright, now you are familiar with both Black Cat’s abilities and how to use them wisely. Up next, here are some of the best tips to master the elusive thief Black Cat in Marvel Rivals:

  • Start Earning Fortune: As Black Cat’s entire kit revolves around fortune, you need to devise a strategy to start earning enough fortune once the game starts. Either sneak and attack to pull in the fortune, use your grapple attack, or try your luck in gambling.
  • Evade When Necessary: Being a nimble yet glass-cannon duelist in the game, you need to be aware of your HP. Once you get caught by multiple enemies, it is essential to escape with Black Cat’s mobility-focused abilities. Otherwise, you will always be dying while trying to attack.
  • Think Ahead to Save Yourself: Get good at guessing how the game will play out. Because you can use Chernobog’s Crystal in advance to free yourself from the worst CCs like Mantis’ sleep effect or Doctor Strange’s ult.
  • Learn the Best Combos: You will have a hard time playing Black Cat if you aren’t ready to chain her abilities. For starters, you can use the following combo: Mento Fish > Grappling Hook > Dash > Claw Whip > Phantom Pursuit > Claw Whip to eliminate the fragile heroes.
