- Ultraman was not a clone of Superman in DC Comics.
- In the comics, Ultraman was an alternate version of Superman from Earth-3, where instead of being a hero, he was a sadist tyrant.
- In Superman, he is thought to be Ultraman because of the logo on his chest, but it could also be the DCU version of Bizarro created by Lex Luthor.
While we are all fully aware of Superman coming into theaters this July, what none of us expected was to see the number of villains that are featured in the movie. Looking at just the trailer, it’s safe to say that the number of people challenging the Man of Steel is quite high, and among those villains, one is Ultraman. Now, fans think that this Ultraman appearing in the DCU is a clone of Superman, but is he? Let’s dive into DC comics to find out!
Is Ultraman a Clone of Superman?

In the trailer of Superman (2025), it is pretty evident that Ultraman is strong enough to subdue Superman and arrest him. This made the fanbase think that he could be a clone of Superman, but if we look at DC comics, it’s a different story altogether. In DC Comics, Ultraman was not a clone of Superman but an alternate version of Superman from Earth-3. However, on Earth-3, Ultraman is not a good guy but an evil tyrant.
It is highly unlikely that this multiversal aspect will be explored in Superman, so there is a good chance that this version of Ultraman could turn out to be Superman’s clone.
Now you might wonder that it is not yet confirmed if this villain is Ultraman, but what if I tell you it has been? In a recent update, a Reddit post on r/DCU_ came up with an official action figure of this character. The action figure is titled “DC’s Ultraman,” confirming that he will be called Ultraman in Superman.
The interesting thing to note here is that this action figure is purple instead of being black. This change in detail has led to speculation that it might turn out to be a DC villain called Parasite, who is a shapeshifter and a sworn enemy of Superman.
Another theory states that he can turn out to be Metallo, equipped with a Kryptonite heart made specifically to kill Superman.
Amongst all these theories, some fans believe that this character could turn out to be a version of Bizarro, who was indeed a clone created by Lex Luthor.
