The release of GTA 6 has been eagerly anticipated for years at this point. Initially announced all the way back in 2022, Rockstar’s latest release has reportedly been in the works for nearly a decade, with claims that initial concepts were being drawn up as early as 2015. Fast forward to 2026, and the prospect of GTA 6’s release has fans in a chokehold, many of whom are dreading the possibility of yet another delay to derail its current launch plans.

Has GTA 6 Been Delayed?

No, GTA 6 has not been delayed, and the game is still scheduled to release on November 19, 2026. The release date was recently reaffirmed by Take-Two during its Q3 2026 investor call. During the debrief, the publisher also announced that GTA 6 marketing will kick off in the summer, so we can safely look forward to seeing gameplay by June 2026.

With that being said, the game was previously intended to release on May 26, 2026. This date was moved up to November as Rockstar required more time to hit the “level of polish you (fans) have come to expect and deserve.“

Could GTA 6 Be Delayed Even Further?

No, it’s highly unlikely that GTA 6 could be delayed even further. That answer might come as a surprise, considering the game has been delayed twice already, but this time around, Take-Two clearly feels confident about the November 2026 window.

As mentioned earlier, the company backed up its confidence by confirming that the title’s marketing will kick off in the summer. Crucially, this comment from CEO Strauss Zelnick outlines exactly how important the announcement was: “You know me pretty well, for me to even say we’ve got marketing beats coming this summer is a huge departure from what I usually say, which is that our labels will make marketing announcements.”

By the looks of it, Take-Two, in tandem with Rockstar, is sketching up plans for what will certainly be an incredible marketing campaign. This would require a significant financial commitment, which the company would be unlikely to commit towards or reveal to the public if the game wasn’t on track for release. Given Take-Two’s recent reassurances, the company’s reliability is also at stake, and another delay would almost certainly tank their stock price – just as it did back in November 2025.

Of course, all our analyzing and speculating could be for naught if Rockstar ends up deciding that it needs more time by November. For the time being, however, it’s safe to say that we’ll all be basking in the Vice City sun later this year.
