Meta AI chatbot is being widely rolled out, and it’s available on the web and across many social media apps. You can now use Meta AI chatbot on the web, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger. The new AI chatbot is powered by the Llama 3 70B model. It can also generate images and find current information by using the internet. On that note, here’s how you can use Meta AI chatbot on several platforms.
Use Meta AI Chatbot on WhatsApp
On Android
- You can access the AI chatbot by tapping on the Meta AI icon at the bottom right.
- To generate images, use the
/imaginein-line shortcut and enter your prompt. You can also start your prompt with “generate an image” to produce AI images. - Apart from that, in your private WhatsApp chats, you can get quick answers by typing
@Meta AIfollowed by your query. Meta says your private chats with the user are not sent to its cloud servers.
On iPhone
WhatsApp on iOS also offers the Meta AI chatbot, but the ability to access it is slightly different.
- To access the AI chatbot inside WhatsApp, tap on the Meta AI icon at the top of the Chats screen, just above the search bar.
- You can now start your conversation with Meta AI. Besides that, you can generate images using the
/imagineshortcut followed by your prompt. - Next, in private chats, you can type
@Meta AIand a query to quickly find answers without leaving the conversation.
On PC
- To access the chatbot, you can click on the Meta AI icon from the left sidebar on WhatsApp’s desktop client.
- You can converse directly with Meta AI or use it to generate images. Like on Android and iPhone, you can invoke Meta AI in private chats when using the app on your PC.
Use Meta AI Chatbot on Instagram
On Android
- Tap on the search icon from the navigation bar at the bottom of the Instagram app.
- Now, tap on the Meta AI icon (inside the search bar) at the top left and start chatting with Meta AI.
- You can also summon the chatbot to your private DMs by typing
@Meta AIand get quick information to be shared with the other person without leaving the app. - Additionally, you can use the
/imagineshortcut to generate images inside private DMs.
On iPhone
- You can use Meta AI on Instagram by heading over to the Search tab from the bottom > search bar > Meta AI icon.
- This will start a conversation with Meta AI. You can enter a prompt or use the
/imaginecommand to generate images using the chatbot. The app also provides you with prompt suggestions to help you start a conversation easily. - In private DMs, you can invoke
@Meta AIto get quick responses from the AI chatbot. And use the/imagineshortcut to generate AI images.
Use Meta AI Chatbot on Facebook
On Android
- The Meta AI icon on Facebook appears directly on your feed, under the post you’re currently viewing.
- You can use Meta AI to gain more insights about the post. For example, on a post related to cartoon, you can ask about best Cartoon Network shows, and so on.
On iPhone
- Launch the Facebook app on your iPhone and tap on the Meta AI icon at the top right to start a conversation with Meta AI.
- You can also use the search bar to ask Meta AI anything you want to know.
Use Meta AI Chatbot on Messenger
On Android
- On the Messenger app, tap on the Meta AI tab from the bottom.
- Here, you can start your conversation with Meta AI.
- You can also summon the AI chatbot by invoking
@Meta AIinside your private chats.
On iPhone
- Launch the Messenger app and tap on the Meta AI tab from the bottom. You can also access it from the Stories section at the top of the Chats screen.
- Now, you can start your conversation with Meta AI. Of course, you can bring up the AI chatbot by entering
@Meta AIin your existing chats as well.
Use Meta AI Chatbot on the Web
- Head over to meta.ai (website) on a web browser, and start your conversation with the Meta AI chatbot using the text bar at the bottom.
- You no longer need to sign in with your Facebook account. If you want to save your conversations, you can choose to sign in.
- By the way, Meta AI can connect to the internet and find the latest information as well.
- And if you want to generate images using Meta’s AI model, click on Imagine from the left pane.
- Now, as you enter your prompt, it will generate images in real time.
What All Can Meta AI Do?
Just like ChatGPT, you can use Meta AI to find information on any subject. It also has the ability to browse the internet so you can find the latest information on any topic. The best part about Meta AI is that it’s integrated right into your social apps. So you don’t have to jump from one app to another to find quick answers during the course of your conversation with friends and family.
Apart from that, you can generate images with Meta AI in real-time. Meta is also working to bring the ability to animate and retouch images using AI, however, it’s not widely available at the moment. On Messenger, you will also be able to chat with AI characters pretty soon. Over the next few months, new AI experiences will be rolled out to more users across the world, powered by Meta AI.
Meta AI Limitations
Since Meta’s moat is its massive reach through social media and messaging apps, the utility of Meta AI is limited to specific use cases, suitable for each platform. You can, of course, chat with Meta AI, find the latest information using the web, generate images, and retouch photos.
However, other LLMs like ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini offer several tools to make the experience even better. For instance, you can upload different types of files on Gemini and ChatGPT to perform data analysis. Since Llama 3 70B is not a multimodal model, it can’t perform image analysis.
Not to mention, the web version of Meta AI doesn’t have a tool like Code Interpreter that uses Python to complete many tasks like transcription, file conversion, etc. Also, the context length is only supported up to 8K tokens, so long-context memory is not possible on Meta AI.
That said, Meta is currently training a far more powerful multimodal model that is said to come with more than 400 billion parameters. As and when Meta releases the model and infuses the technology to its social media apps, new use cases will be unlocked.
