When is GTA 6 Coming Out?
As confirmed by Rockstar via an official statement, GTA 6 will be released on November 19, 2026. The release date announcement came back in November 2025, and it doubled as a delay since the title was pushed back by six months from its previous May 2026 release window. If you take into account the initial Fall 2025 target, the game has basically been delayed by a whole year.
Given the hiccups, fans are reasonably wary of the current release date, although Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick did provide some reassuring comments at the tail-end of last year. He stated, “We feel really good about this release date. It’s in the same fiscal year, it happens to be a great release window, and naturally, we’re really supportive of Rockstar’s approach.”

Why Was GTA 6 Delayed?

Since the release of GTA: Vice City, every Grand Theft Auto game has been released on a Tuesday. However, GTA 6 looks all set to break that tradition, as it will be launched on a Thursday. On the flip side, its still releasing in the Q4 window, which has long been the standard cadence for the franchise.
Is GTA 6 Available for Pre-Order?
Despite being months away from release, GTA 6 is still not available for pre-order. Rockstar hasn’t opened up listings on any official storefront, platform, or retailer – not even a cheeky collector’s edition tease.
That said, with the release date locked for November 2026, pre-orders should pop up during Q2 2026 by the latest. By the looks of it, Rockstar could be following Red Dead Redemption 2’s marketing schedule, which saw pre-orders go live a month after the release of its third trailer. If this is the case, GTA 6 pre-orders will likely kick off shortly after trailer 3 is dropped.
