The studio released the Secret Level, an anthology series featuring different video games, and the Fallout live-action series has become a sensation among gamers. Now, Prime Video is set to bring more adaptations, such as Tomb Raider and Life is Strange, but the most anticipated title is God of War. So, everyone is excited to meet the Ghost of Sparta and the rest of the characters from Norse mythology. Prime Video has already revealed a few, and here are all confirmed and rumored God of War TV show cast we know about so far.
God of War TV Series Cast: Who’s Confirmed and Who’s Rumored to Play a Role
Before we begin, here is a quick overview of the God of War show cast members so far, from the confirmed Ryan Hurst to the rumored Ólafur Darri Ólafsson casting :
Actor/Actress Role Status Ryan Hurst Kratos Confirmed Teresa Palmer Sif Confirmed Max Parker Heimdall Confirmed Ólafur Darri Ólafsson Thor Rumored Alastair Duncan Mimir Rumored
Ryan Hurst as Kratos

Ever since the adaptation was announced in 2022, the world has wondered who would be the perfect fit to play the Ghost of Sparta in the God of War live-action series. Prime Video has revealed that Ryan Hurst will play Kratos in the upcoming God of War TV show. This was a surprise as Ryan earlier portrayed Thor, one of Kratos’ adversaries in the GOW: Ragnarok game.
Apart from this role, Ryan Hurst is well known for his roles as Harry ‘Opie’ Winston in the Sons of Anarchy, Beta in The Walking Dead, Li’l Foster Farrell in Outsiders, and many more. Now, Ryan is abandoning the Mjolnir and picking up the Leviathan axe. After leaving Greece, Kratos begins a new life in the Norse lands and goes on a life-changing journey to the highest peak in Jötunheim with his son, Atreus, to spread his late wife’s ashes.
Teresa Palmer as Sif
Right after Kratos casting announcement, a new report from Variety has confirmed that Teresa Palmer is set to play ‘Sif’ in God of War show. The Australian actress is popular among fans for her roles as Julie in Warm Bodies, Diana Bishop in A Discovery of Witches, Isabelle Heatherington in The Family Next Door, etc.
Sif is Thor’s wife and Odin’s Daughter-in-law in the GOW games. She is the Norse Goddess of Wheat, Grain, Earth, Harvest, Family, Beauty, Fertility, and more in the nine realms. Sif only appears in the sequel, God of War: Ragnarok, but it seems the live-action series will be handling the story and characters in chronological order.
Max Parker as Heimdall
Earlier, the rumors suggested that Max Parker was tapped to play Baldur Odinson, Thor’s half-brother. However, Prime Video has now confirmed that Max Parker will play ‘Heimdall’ in the God of War TV series. The American actor recently stole the spotlight with his role as Sgt. Sullivan in Netflix’s Boots.
Furthermore, Max Parker is also known for his roles as Luke Posner in Emmerdale and Mikhail Tanner in Vampire Academy. Heimdall is the God of Foresight, blessed with the ability to see into the future. Unlike in the MCU, Heimdall is actually a main antagonist in the God of War series. So, we can look forward to Max Parker donning an antagonistic role in GOW live action.
Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor
The Norse mythology isn’t complete without the God of Thunder, Thor. Since Ryan Hurst switched to playing Kratos in live-action, the door is now open for a new actor to play Thor. Though Prime Video hasn’t shared any word about Thor’s casting, numerous reliable sources suggest that Ólafur Darri Ólafsson is set to play Thor in the God of War TV show.
Ólafur captivated the audience recently with his performance as Mr. Drummond in Apple TV’s Severance series. In addition, he is also best known for his performances in Trapped, Somebody Somewhere, etc. Thor is the son of Odin and serves as a violent enforcer of his father’s will throughout the story. Thus, Thor is one more antagonist Kratos will face off against in the God of War live-action series.
Alastair Duncan as Mimir
And the final casting rumor we have is that Alastair Duncan, who played Mimir in the GOW games, is set to reprise his role in the God of War live-action series. Alastair is a veteran Scottish actor who has worked in movies, TV shows, and video games throughout his career. Some of his best roles include Alfred Pennyworth in The Batman animated series, Celebrimbor in Middle-earth games, and The President in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach (review).
Mimir is the smartest man alive in the Norse realms and used to be Odin’s advisor. In GOW, he eventually becomes Krato’s ally, guiding him in his journey. Let’s wait for Prime Video’s announcements and see if the rumors become true in the coming days.
That’s everything we know about the cast of the live-action God of War series at the moment. There are many more cast members to be revealed for roles such as Atreus, Freya, Baldur, Odin, etc. As the casting is underway, we will get to meet the new cast in the near future.
