Top 15 Female Characters in Genshin Impact

Characters with exquisite designs, animations, and shrewd/goofy personalities are what make Genshin Impact one of the most popular games in existence. A player might pull for a character because its personality resonates with the players’ or plainly because they like that specific irky, shy, goofy, or positive personality. It’s no surprise that female characters are the most sought-after ones in Genshin Impact due to the gender demographics and because there are more male weebs/otakus/gamers than females. That’s what Gatcha games have always been like since their inception. Whether you just started playing Genshin Impact or are an old player, if you’re looking to pull for 5* female characters, here are the top 15 female characters in Genshin Impact.

Before you pounce on us for mentioning another character above your favorite character, this is not a ranked list, meaning just because a character is mentioned above another doesn’t mean that character is better.

1. Kamisato Ayaka

Kamisato Ayaka is not only a fan favorite but she’s also Hoyoverse’s favorite character, and you know how serious it is when the game developers themselves like characters. In fact, she was one of the few characters that were first added to the game, and since her release in version 2.0, she has remained one of the most popular characters in the game. There are two things to like about Ayaka in the game.

Ayaka Genshin Impact

Firstly, she does insane amounts of damage, thereby she resides in the S-Tier category in our best Genshin Impact characters tier list. Secondly, her story quest is one of the best story quests in the game, and it really connects with the players. Her back story with her brother Ayato and the Yashiro Commission’s struggles is one of the best stories in the game. Check out our Kamisato Ayaka guide to know the best builds and weapons for the characters.

2. Raiden Shogun/Ei

The Electro Archon that rules over the nation of Inazuma has to be another most popular female character in Genshin Impact. Most people like Ei, the actual archon and that’s mostly due to her being one of the strongest archons in Genshin Impact both lore-wise and in the game. She’s an easy S-Tier character in the game thanks to her ability to shell out consistent electro damage and recharge others’ bursts.

She is also loved due to her brutal past where her sister Makoto, the former electro archon died in Khaenri’ah 500 years ago. This led to Ei walking the path of eternity as she believed it was people’s ambitions that led to their demise. She created two puppets, one of which was the Raiden Shogun to rule over Inazuma and strip people of their visions (because she believes they’re what gives people ambitions), while Ei rested her consciousness in the Plane of Euthymia.

3. Hu Tao

The 77th Director of Wangsheng Funeral Parlour has a lot going for her besides her goofy or rather irksome personality. For starters, her job is, get this, to go around Liuye looking for clients who might be interested in funeral plans to prepare for their death. Hu Tao has a weird interest in Qiqi but the feeling is not mutual. As per the lore, Hu Tao stuffed Qiqi in a bag to kidnap her but Baizhu stopped it.

Hu Tao bears a Pyro Vision and is one of the most powerful Pyro characters in the game. If you want to build her, we have a comprehensive guide on how to build, the best artifacts for Hu Tao in Genshin Impact which you may want to check out. Overall, she’s one of the most popular female characters in Genshin Impact.

4. Ganyu

Ganyu is one of the Adepti who look over the nation of Liuye. As we learned from the lore, she was raised by Cloud Retainer, another Adeptus, and has a pretty interesting backstory. As it stands now, she’s one of the Qixing, and for those unaware, they look over the trivial business and other matters of Liuye. Ganyu is a hard worker and hardly gets enough sleep but is quite diligent when attending to the matters that concern Liuye.

In the game, Ganyu is one of the strongest Cryo users besides Kamisato Ayaka. She’s a bow user and fires ice shards at enemies dealing massive amounts of AoE damage. Her elemental skill unleashes a cryo flower that taunts nearby enemies, and her elemental burst is called “Celestial Shower”. It drops ice shards onto enemies in an area dealing continuous AoE damage and increasing Ganyu’s Frostflake arrow damage by 20%.

5. Shenhe

If you’ve played Shenhe’s quests, at first, you may mistake her for an Adeptus but she’s a human that grew up in the mountains of Liuye. Cloud Retainer found Shenhe abandoned in a cave and decided to raise her and she grew up as a human but with abilities exceeding that of a normal human being. According to the lore, she’s extremely powerful physically due to all the training she did after becoming Cloud Retainer’s disciple.

She’s not only strong lore-wise but also as a character in Genshin Impact. For starters, she too has a Cryo vision and wields a Polearm. She has the ability to buff Cryo damage, which makes her an insanely good addition to mono Cryo teams with characters such as Ganyu, Ayaka, and Chongyun. Thus, turning her into one of the most popular female characters in Genshin Impact.

6. Yae Miko

Yae Miko aka the Fox Envoy of Inazuma and the head Shrine Maiden of the Grand Narukami shrine is one of the most sought-after female characters in Genshin Impact. She also has a publishing house in Inazuma and loves reading books. In the Genshin lore, Miko is a close friend of Ei and she helps her to snap out of all the Eternity talk and act more like an actual Archon with the people of Inazuma. She does so with the help of the traveler and people’s ambitions.

Miko holds an Electro vision and is a catalyst user. She’s mostly used for support, to continuously apply electro to enemies and recharge energy for her team. She has easily one of the best play styles in the game, combined with her personality and quirkiness, which makes her a favorite among Genshin Impact players.

7. Sangonomiya Kokomi

The Divine Priestess of Watatsumi Island, Sangonomiya Kokomi, is a descendent of the Serpent God Orobashi who was slain by the Electro Archon and whose remnants are still found on the four Inazuman islands. Although Ei has authority over Inazuma, Kokomi the people of Watatsumi island and the Resistance Army resisted (pun intended) the shogun and her vision hunt decree and wanted to enjoy peace in Watatsumi island. Hence, Kokomi is sort of a ruler of the island and oversees all the island’s work herself with the Resistance and Army general Gourou.

In the game, Kokomi is a Hydro character, a Catalyst user, and a supporting character whose main job is to heal her teammates. In fact, she’s probably one of the best healers in the game and is one of the most used characters in the spiral abyss. Her gameplay plus overall design are some of the other things that make her one of the best female characters in Genshin Impact.

8. Eula

Eula is the captain of the Reconnaissance Company with the Knights of Favonius. The Reconnaissance Company oversees the military affairs of Mondstadt and tracks any suspicious activity happening in the region that needs to be barred. Eula is one of the heirs of the Lawrence clan in Mondstadt, which is the most hated clan in the city of Freedom because the people in it were mostly corrupt and non-noble. She was one of the only nobles in the clan and left it to join the knights of Favonius’ Reconnaissance Company.

Eula has a Cryo vision and uses a claymore to fight. She’s a physical DPS unit that does good cryo damage numbers. Most players like Eula because of her design and unwavering resolve to help the needy and those in trouble. She’s made quite a name for herself despite being associated with the Lawrence clan. Her sheer will and personality make her one of the best female characters in Genshin Impact.

9. Yelan

Yelan works for the Ministry of civil affairs in Liuye and is one of the secret members of the Qixing. We first met her during the launch of Chasm and she has a quite unique personality. She’s a formidable opponent, cunning, while still being elegant and decisive. In her lore, we’ve mostly seen her work as a spy to extract details from the people that mean harm to Liuye and the Qixing.

Yelan holds a Hydro vision and is a bow user. While people have called her a 5* Xingqiu in disguise, she’s on par or arguably even better than Xingqiu at constellation. Fans are often drawn by her unique play style, fighting animations, and the elemental skill that allows her to run fast, which is great for exploration.

10. Dehya

Dehya is known as the “Flame Mane” across Sumeru and its Desert. She’s an Eremite Mercenary who’s usually found with Dunyarzad as the former family has commissioned/hired Dehya to act as a bodyguard. Dehya appears to be charming and fierce, has one of the best female designs and animations in the game, and is often feared by other Mercenaries because of how strong she is.

She’s a Pyro character who wields a claymore, but she doesn’t just use her claymore when fighting but knuckles too. Her elemental burst is when she gets really fierce and starts blowing punches at the enemies which looks really cool. The punching speed gets faster with time and in the end, she deals AoE damage. The aftermath of this is good damage numbers and an animation spectacle.

11. Kuki Shinobu

Kuki is the deputy leader of the Arataki gang led by the “One and Oni!” Arataki Itto. She’s Itto’s sidekick and although she’s had many chances at moving on to a better life, she stays with the Arataki Gang because she considers it as her family. We learn from the lore and in-game story that Kuki, in the early stages of life, studied law in Liyue and met Yanfei while doing so. We first met her with Itto in the Chasm as she was traveling to get her graduation certificate from Liyue.

As for her gameplay, she wields a sword and is an Electro character. Besides, people like her because she’s an extremely knowledgeable and well-rounded personality. She’s a healer and is primarily used in teams for reaction. Prior to Sumeru’s release, she was considered a pretty mid-character but thanks to Hyperbloom, Quicken, and Aggravate reactions, she got the charm back which she never lost.

12. Yoimiya

Yoimiya is the current owner of the Naganohara Fireworks in Inazuma. She oversees all the fireworks supplies and makes sure they’re easily and readily available during festivals and events in Inazuma. She also takes care of her old father Naganohara who was the previous owner of the fireworks shop. Her first story quest is probably one of the most well-written and liked quests in the entire game because it sets a really good mood to reflect on Yoimiya’s carefree, caring, and loving personality.

Yoimiya holds a Pyro vision and wields a bow. She imbues her normal attacks with Pyro and targets the character until it is defeated. Her gameplay is incredibly smooth and the animations are very well done, especially her normal attack animations. Although not many like playing her because she doesn’t do AoE damage, her personality and design are easily the only things required for people to like her.

13. Yun Jin

Yun Jin is the current director of the Yun-Han Opera Troupe and is a reputable performer in Liyue with one-of-a-kind design and styling. Her character design is more geared to represent Chinese culture, and she has to be one of the most elegant characters in the game. She’s known to perform in Liyue’s tea house with the owner claiming that one performance of hers gets enough more that they could keep the shop closed for a month. While diligent and mesmerizingly beautiful, she also appears to be very friendly in the story quests.

Yun Jin is a Geo character and wields a Polearm. In the game, she’s more geared toward support roles. Players love her idle animation because it’s too smooth to be in a game. She provides buffs to the team, especially in those with another Geo character, and also fabricates a shield to protect her teammates. Overall, she’s one of the most elegant female characters in Genshin Impact.

14. Ningguang

The Tianquan of the Liyue Qixing and the owner of the Jade Chamber Ningguang looks over all the affairs of Liyue. She’s a ruthless businesswoman who’s one of the richest in Teyvat and her ruthlessness brings dislike for her from those with lesser significance than her, but overall, her business tactics are what help her look for the people of Liyue and their benefit.

She first appears to be quite scary in archon quests but players are later treated by her friendly nature once they get to know her. She’s a Geo character and a Catalyst wielder who can shield and do pretty good damage numbers. Her design is quite exquisite, combined with her personality makes her one of the best female characters in Genshin Impact.

15. Keqing

Keqing is one of the members of the Qixing and like Ganyu, she works a lot. She’s a perfectionist, doesn’t like to leave her work pending, and procrastinate. She’s responsible and persistent toward her goals and work. Before Rex Lapis (Zhongli) gave the authority to rule Liyue to the people, Keqing believed people should do their own work but later realized how hard it is to rule a nation as huge as Liyue.

She also thinks Visions are an insult and tried to destroy them but failed in destroying her Electro vision. Her personality is intimidation but she has an incredibly soft side and that’s what makes her one of the best female characters in Genshin Impact. She appears to be extremely friendly to the people of Liyue, and her coworkers and considers players as one of her best friends.
