- Marvel's Echo is now streaming on Disney Plus and Daredevil has made an appearance to fight against Maya Lopez.
- Daredevil has a rather brief appearance in Marvel's Echo, appearing for 98 seconds in the first episode.
- The appearance of Charlie Cox's Daredevil could connect the events of Echo to the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again.
Marvel’s Echo has been released on Disney Plus, reviving Daredevil’s Defenders universe after a long time. Echo revolves around a very unique anti-hero named Maya Lopez. This anti-hero is the first one in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to be physically disabled in more than one way. Now, I don’t want to spoil a lot of details about the series, but there’s one element of Echo – ahem! Charlie Cox’s Daredevil – that absolutely blew my mind.
There were multiple rumors before release pointing towards Daredevil appearing in a few episodes. However, most people took these rumors to be just rumors, but to our surprise, Daredevil made a fantastic appearance in the very first episode of the series.
In the first episode, Maya is on her very first assignment under Kingpin, fighting alongside her men with Kingpin’s rivals. As Maya almost wins, Daredevil shows up taking out her men after which, she engages in combat with Daredevil. The blinded vigilante shows up at the 23-minute 31-second mark in the first episode, appearing for a total of 98 seconds.
This scene is also a defining moment in Maya’s lore since this is where Kingpin compliments her for being extremely capable of taking a stand against Daredevil on her own. This complement also sets her on a path of violence, turning her into a master assassin who is in pursuit of vengeance from Jeremy Renner’s Ronin who she thinks to have murdered her father.
The appearance of Daredevil in Echo sets the path for a lot of possible things that can happen in the future of Marvel. This brief cameo also tells us that Daredevil is involved in the lore of Maya. We can see a possible conflict between Daredevil and Kingpin in the same storyline, which will probably be continued in Marvel’s upcoming project, the Daredevil: Born Again TV series.
