My Top Amazon Prime TV Shows I Always Recommend

Below, I have discussed three television series that you shouldn’t skip on Amazon Prime Video.

FROM

FROM is one of the best horror television shows I have watched on Amazon Prime Video. Unlike many series of the genre, the story of FROM doesn’t feel unnecessarily stretched even for a minute. It is a slow-burning horror that doesn’t let you predict anything until it chooses to reveal itself. You have to be patient to keep up with the mindblowing series to enjoy it to the fullest.

Supernatural

Image Credit: Warner Bros. Television (via Amazon)

Now, here’s Supernatural, which, as it did for most of the viewers, became my favourite because it has Jensen Ackles. Well, that is the top thing, but it’s not the entire reason I recommended the series to anyone. Supernatural is really an exciting horror television show as it mixes horror, humour, and emotional elements naturally. One moment, it gives you goosebumps with an episode featuring ghosts; the other moment, you will find yourself giggling while watching the dynamic between Sam and Dean.

The Office

Image Credit: Deedle-Dee Productions (via Amazon)

The Office is my go-to series whenever I feel I have nothing to watch. No matter how many times I have watched it, it still feels fresh. I watch it mostly when I have my supper, as that’s the time I enjoy it the most. It’s one such show that can lighten one’s mood anytime. So, if you want to laugh your lungs out, The Office is a must-watch, if you haven’t already.

Best TV Shows on Amazon Prime Video

This list contains some of the best television shows that you can find on Amazon Prime Video. So, do not miss out on any one of these.

Suits

College expellee Mike Ross gets a job opportunity in one of the biggest law firms in New York. He gets interviewed by Harvey Spectar and gets selected as well. Together, the duo solves many cases, but they have some big secrets that must be kept hidden from their colleagues and rivals, of course.

Suits is definitely the best courtroom drama series ever and certainly one of the best TV shows on Prime Video. Be it the amazing performances or the chemistry between the characters, everything about the TV series is absolutely top-notch. Besides that, Suits is written in such a way that it will not let you get up from your seats until the end (it’s that addictive).

The Office is a mockumentary American sitcom about Dunder Mifflin Paper Company’s employees and their hilarious manager. In every episode, we see the employees’ everyday lives and humorous encounters with each other.

Despite being the counterpart of the already famed British show of the same name, the American version of The Office has garnered next-level fanfare over the years. The one-liners and hilarious reactions of the characters played a huge role in the TV Show’s success.

The Boys

  • Release Date: July 26, 2019
  • Director: Multiple directors (created by Eric Kripke)
  • Cast: Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara

The Boys was created by the one who blessed us with Jensen Ackles’ Supernatural. Based on a comic book series, The Boys revolves around the superheroes of the influential corporation Vought International. However, they are nowhere near the likes of Superman or the other superheroes who we witnessed fighting for good. In fact, The Boys introduces us to self-centered and corrupt superheroes. Conversely, it also introduces us to a group known as ‘The Boys’ who intend to bring these good-for-nothing individuals down.

The Boys is a drama series that shows what would happen if superpowers got into the wrong hands. Filled with bloodshed and gore, this black comedy is a must-watch for fans of this genre. Excellent writing, a brilliant star cast, and fabulous cinematography are some of the major things that make The Boys stand out in the crowd. And with the recently concluded The Boys Season 4, this TV show has gained immense popularity.

The Walking Dead

Image Credit: Idiot Box Productions (via Amazon)
  • Release Date: October 31, 2010
  • Director: Multiple directors (developed by Frank Darabont; based on the comic by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore & Charlie Adlard)
  • Cast: Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Danai Gurira, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs

  • Seasons/ Episodes: 11/171

Adapted from the comic book of the same name, The Walking Dead is a post-apocalyptic drama series that has been with us since 2010. The series revolves around a group of survivors led by the Sheriff’s deputy, Rick Grimes, after the world gets taken over by the ‘Walkers.’ Any person who gets scratched or bitten by the walkers will transform into one after some time or after dying. So, these survivors must protect themselves by any means from these brain-dead creatures.

Several movies and TV shows have explored the same concept, but The Walking Dead certainly stands out the best among them. The top-level cinematography and the spectacular zombie action made the series legendary.

Reacher

Image Credit: Paramount Television Studios (via Amazon)
  • Release Date: February 4, 2022
  • Director: Multiple directors (developed by Nick Santora; based on the Jack Reacher novels by Lee Child)
  • Cast: Alan Ritchson, Malcolm Goodwin, Willa Fitzgerald, Maria Sten, Serinda Swan
  • IMDb / Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 8/96%
  • Seasons/Episodes: 3/24

The crime drama series Reacher is based on Lee Child’s novel Jack Reacher. It tells the story of a former military personnel, John Reacher, who gets arrested for a crime he never committed. After coming out of prison, Jack makes two police officers his allies and starts investigating the criminal acts happening in Margrave, Georgia.

The source material was well received by enthusiasts, and so was the TV show. With an incredible main character and action sequences, Reacher is a binge-watch-worthy crime drama on Amazon Prime Video.

Good Omens

  • Release Date: May 31, 2019
  • Director: Multiple directors (developed by Neil Gaiman; based on the novel by Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman)
  • Cast: David Tennant, Michael Sheen, Jon Hamm, Adria Arjona, Miranda Richardson
  • IMDb/Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 8/86%
  • Seasons/Episodes: 2/12

Like some of the entries on the list of best series on Prime Video, Good Omens is also adapted from a book released in 1990. It follows an angel and a demon named Aziraphale and Crowley, respectively. Despite coming from two sides that never made any alliance, Crowley and Aziraphale are fond of each other. They represent Hell and Heaven on Earth and are in love with the life on the planet. When the end of Earth gets near in the form of the Antichrist, the Angel, and the Demon must do everything necessary to prevent the calamity.

The crisp dialogue, the comedy, and the actors make the show worth a while. Besides that, it won’t be unfair to say that the creators did justice to the original story.

The Wheel of Time

Image Credit: Radar Pictures (via Amazon)
  • Release Date: November 19, 2021

The Wheel of Time is a fantasy TV show based on a book by the same name. The story is about a woman named Moiraine Damodred who approaches five individuals from a secluded village and takes them on a deadly adventure. She believes one of them to be the rebirth of a powerful dragon who will either break or save the world once and for all.

The Wheel of Time is an intriguing piece of entertainment that features several European and Asian mythological elements. The TV Show has everything, be it a beautifully visualized setting or the actors putting their heart and soul into the role. The series was highly hyped up ahead of its release, and it surely lived up to the expectations of every fan.

Supernatural

After losing his wife to a supernatural entity, John Winchester raised his two sons, Dean and Sam. He teaches them how to fight evil spirits, so after growing up, the brothers embark on a perilous journey where they either have to kill or get killed.

The best part of Supernatural from the very beginning has been Jensen Ackles’ Dean, of course. The first episode of the TV show gets you hooked, and the chemistry between the main characters, Sam and Dean, doesn’t let you stop admiring the brother duo. Apart from that, the spooky elements of the show can sometimes give you goosebumps if you’re watching it at night.

Sherlock

Image Credit: Hartswood Films (via Amazon)

Initially, he isn’t seen as trustworthy by the locals, but soon after learning about Sherlock’s observation skills, he becomes valuable to those who doubt him.

Sherlock’s stories have been featured in numerous media, but this is undoubtedly the best one to date. No wonder it has such a top-tier rating on IMDb. The Rings of Power, the prequel series to The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, takes place several centuries before the events of the aforementioned movie series. It takes us to the second age of Middle-earth, which marked the beginning of some significant events. The Rings of Power arrived on Amazon Prime in 2022, and on its first day, it broke the streaming platform’s records. While TV shows or movies are criticized for CGI, The Ring of Power received high praise for the same. Apart from the strong plot, the music and the costumes are some of the primary elements contributing to the series’ success.

Fallout

Following the 2077 Nuclear War, the survivors took refuge in the fallout shelters called Vaults. Centuries later, a girl named Lucy sets out on a dangerous journey to find her father, who has been abducted by the wasteland raiders. The television series is set in a town that you can’t escape after entering. Yes, people live there, and we also see them working and behaving normally in the daytime. Despite being disappointed by the polarizing ending, fans say it is a worthwhile series for sci-fi fans.

Starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge in the lead role, the series has every right to be a part of your watchlist, as you wouldn’t have watched a show with such sharp humour in a while. However, it’s not only the comedic elements that make it worthwhile; in fact, the series also navigates loneliness, self-sabotage, and guilt, which makes it relatable.

Dealing with the death of her best friend, a young woman in London navigates her normal life while hiding her pain behind the jokes and sarcasm. As the story moves forward, she becomes more mature and finally learn to live with the emotional pain instead of running from it.
