Wordle is one of the simplest yet one of the hardest games to master. With a randomized, new five-letter word every day, it’s impossible to predict which one will be the next answer. While we can help you with the best Wordle starting words and some of the best Wordle tips and tricks, we understand if you are frustrated or simply bored with the game. However, just because you want to leave Wordle doesn’t mean similar creations don’t exist. We thought the same and scoured the Internet to find the best games like Wordle that we think you will love. So keep a pen and paper handy as we proceed to play other Wordle alternatives.
While you might think the game is similar to its namesake, I request you to read the word again. True to its name, Worldle is a game based on guessing locations around the world. Like Wordle, the location of the day is randomized and, as such, can be from anywhere on our spinning globe. Depending on how well-versed you are in geography, the answer might be very simple or incredibly hard.
Players get a maximum of six daily guesses to name the location propped up on the map. The best part is that even if you get the answer wrong, Worldle shows you how close you are through a percentage meter, along with a handy arrow guiding you toward the right location on the map. For someone into geography, Worlde is one of the best games like Wordle you will like.
While Nerdle isn’t exactly my cup of tea, this is a game like Wordle math geeks among you will absolutely love. Instead of letters, Nerdle places calculations on every tile that ultimately leads to a final result. There are eight empty tiles that accept the numbers “0123456789+-*/=“. It must be a calculation that is mathematically correct and must have one “=.”
Like Wordle, correct numbers render a green tile, incorrect but incorrect places; one gives a purple tile, and an incorrect one gives a black tile altogether. There are also Nerdle modes, including mini, speed, instant, and even custom Nerdle. While a bit technical for most of us, Nerdle is one of the games like Wordle that has become a cult classic choice.
Dordle reverts back to the original Wordle word-guessing concept but takes it up a notch. Instead of solving just one word, you are tasked with guessing two words at once. The player gets a total of seven tries to guess both words, which means you have to solve for both at once. Dordle follows the same process of elimination, including the green, yellow, and grey tile classification.
While there is a daily Dordle mode, the game also comes with a free mode which means you get unlimited tries to play it out. However, if you ask us, the real challenge is in the normal mode where guessing two words in seven tries can get frustrating. So if you are convinced you’re a pro at Wordle, Dordle is one of the games you should try.
Framed is a game like Wordle that again veers away from the word formula while keeping the guessing game intact. The focus in Framed, as you might have guessed, is on movies. Instead of a single word, the answer is a movie of the day. Players guess the answer through single yet random frames from the movie. As you get an answer wrong, the guess moves on to another frame, and so on, until you get it.
Like Wordle, players get six guesses before the last frame appears, and the game is over. You are then met by the actual movie and a timer for the next answer. You don’t have to worry about your choice not being on there since Framed movie directory is huge. So go on and check this game that inserts cinema into the equation.
5. Heardle Unlimited
While the official Heardle by Spotify shut down sometime back, many capable and fun clones have popped up. For those unaware, Heardle is another game like Wordle that has music at its core. Every day, the game refreshes with a random song that can range from practically any genre and/ or artist. However, instead of album art or photo of the artist, players guess by hearing the song.
The answer is slowly revealed through a 30-second splice of the song. On the first guess, only the first second is revealed. However, as the guesses progress, more of this track is revealed until you either get the song or fail. Depending on the song of the day, guessing might be painfully easy or hard. So if you’re an audiophile with a keen ear for tracks, check out Heardle as a Wordle alternative.

If you thought Dordle was the only game like Wordle that takes things up a notch, wait till you play Quordle. As you might have guessed by its name, Quordle has four random words of the day that the player must guess at once. Consequently, the game increases the number of chances you have to nine, so you have ample tries to win.
If Quordle doesn’t sound easy to solve, that’s because it isn’t. Managing a limited number of tries with so many words definitely gets hard in a short while. However, the game also has a practice mode for you to run through before moving on to the real thing. While Quordle isn’t for everyone because of the difficulty, it finds its audience as one of the best games like Wordle here.
This game, like Wordle, is strictly for the Star Wars fans out there. SWordle uses the same five-letter word formula, but here the answer will always be a reference to the Star Wars series. This means every answer related to the game will be sprinkled with some space adventure element. This could be a character, a weapon, or anything else. Anything except the normal words you’re used to.
While the player gets six tries to guess the answer, it can get incredibly hard for folks who haven’t watched the movies. However, if you’re a die-hard Star Wars geek, make sure to give SWordle a try and destroy the Death Star.
8. Words with Friends 2
Building upon the previous iteration, Words with Friends 2 brings team effort to word guessing again. If you’re new to the genre, this game is based on playing against an opponent. The rules of the game are simple. Each player gets a set number of tiles with random letters. The aim of the game is to create words out of the words your opponent places in a crossword-style scenario.
While it might sound simple, players quickly run out of words to spell with their exact letters and the combination their opponent places. Words with Friends also teaches players about the words they place by providing definitions. If you are bored of playing Wordle solo, go check out this game.

Absurdle is a game like Wordle that doesn’t follow the traditional rules. For starters, the game has no word limit. So you can practically go on to make dozens of guesses without having to worry about running out of them. However, that is not where its strength lies.
Instead of giving players a set word for the day, Absurdle takes in inputs the player gives and decides the word based on that. This has been done to frustrate the player as much as possible and make them click the handy Give Up button. However, that is not to say you can’t win Absurdle. Since the word itself doesn’t change, you can guess it if you throw enough tries. I mean, we got the word today. Can you get it tomorrow?
While Words With Friends essentially is the same idea Scrabble is based on, we still believe this game is worth a mention. Based on forming words in a crossword-style playthrough, Scrabble is a team-based word guesser. While the game is mostly enjoyed as a board game, the online version has now picked up and is one of the best games like Wordle.
As in games like these, you get a set number of tiles with different letters. The game begins with a player placing down a word and then the other building on top. The objective of the game is to create as many words as possible from the words’ positions. Since this is a crossword-style game, letters can be placed both horizontally and vertically. So if you want to play the game that started it all, check out Scrabble.
While I am almost fully sure you will not end up playing Octordle, I believe it’s worth a mention for how absurd it is. Octordle, as the name suggests, is a word game that gives players eight words to guess at once. And yes, before you tell me, I know it sounds ridiculous, it is a game made for players who are either extremely adept at word guessing or just want to have stupid fun.
Like Wordle, this game follows the same rules and color scheme. However, instead of the normal six tries, the game gives you 13 tries to guess all the words. And while they might sound like a lot, remember that you have eight words to find at once. So if you are someone confident who can take out Octordle, check it out.
12. Hello Wordl
Ending the list of games like Wordle, we have Hello Wordl, a game guesser platform that all but bends the rule of the genre. While Wordle and most of its counterparts stick to five-letter guesses, Hello Wordl lets you guess from words that are over 11 letters long. Since there aren’t a lot of 11-letter common words in the world, you can see how this game might be difficult.
However, the good part is that you can adjust a handy slider on the top to get words that range from four to 11 letters. And it does also follow the same rules as Wordle, so you won’t have to learn any new ones. Users who are into long words will love this one.
