He is on a voyage, traveling from one island to another, with the Straw Hat Pirates in search of the legendary One Piece treasure. The series has spanned over 25 years and has more than a thousand chapters, yet what exactly is the One Piece is still a question that remains unanswered to this day.

Initially, the great treasure was believed to have been left by Roger alone. But it was later revealed that Joy Boy was the first person to leave behind his treasure at Laugh Tale. Roger was the next to find it and left behind his treasures in addition to Joy Boy’s on the final island.
Moreover, it has been revealed that this treasure holds unreal value but more than that Vegapunk and Silvers Rayleigh noted that the pirate who discovers One Piece could find the real truth about the world they live in, uncovering details of the Void Century, Great Kingdom, and more.
Where Is the One Piece Treasure Located?
If you have read the manga or watched the anime, you must be aware of the Road Poneglyphs already. There are four Road Poneglyphs, each marking a different location in the final section of the Grand Line.
Currently, our main protagonist Luffy has three with him. When all four are put together, it will reveal the location of the Laugh Tale (previously known as Raftel), the last island of the New World, which is the home to the fabled One Piece.
Only Roger Pirates and Joy Boy are confirmed to step foot on this island so far in the story. Fans widely believe that Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates will ultimately reach Laugh Tale and claim the One Piece treasure. However, the world’s smartest man, Dr. Vegapunk suggests it’s not guaranteed that the person Joy Boy desires will find the treasure.
Is the One Piece Treasure Real?
Ever since Roger kickstarted the Great Pirate Era, every single pirate inhabiting this world has been in a race to find the legendary One Piece treasure. However, there have been many who questioned the legitimacy of the great treasure left behind by the pirate king. Sure, when Roger first mentioned the treasure, it sounded like a myth but many prominent characters in the story have confirmed the existence of One Piece.
During the climax of the Marineford war (one of the best One Piece arcs), Whitebeard made a big statement, which were also his last words to the world. Even though he didn’t want to uncover the treasure, Oyaji remarked that the “One Piece is real.” He also mentioned that when the treasure is finally found by someone, a colossal war will break out and the world will be turned upside down. Oda wrapped up the first half of the series by reminding us that One Piece is not just a legend.
Recently, in the Egghead arc, Vegapunk acknowledged how Roger set this treasure hunt in motion, and there are unstoppable characters out there who seek the One Piece treasure. The old man also confirmed the treasure is real and that whoever finds it would rewrite the fate of this world.
Eiichiro Oda’s Comments About One Piece
The treasure remains the greatest mystery of the One Piece series and so many in the fandom have questioned the creator about it over the years. In an interview with fellow manga creator, Momoko Sakura, Oda gave away a major piece of information about the treasure. He put an end to the long-running rumor that One Piece is not the friends we made along the way or the journey we had all along.
Furthermore, Oda confirmed that One Piece was a real and physical treasure that would be the reward for those who find it in the end. So, yes, we have to tolerate all the jokes and funny theories until the day we learn what the One Piece is.
Popular Theories About the One Piece
Over the years, certain clues have been dropped by the creator that hint at what the treasure could be. We know that a part of the One Piece treasure must be gold or an ancient currency of the Great Kingdom.
Other than that, it will include a relic from the past that would reveal forbidden information about the Void Century and the origin of this world. Along with all this, there must be the main physical item, which Oda mentioned in the interview, on the final island.
When the Roger Pirates set foot on Laugh Tale island and found the One Piece, everyone laughed their heart out to the point they had tears in their eyes. We are unsure about the thing that made them laugh in the first place, but there are countless theories around it:
