2025 is packed with multiple releases, but one of the movies that highlights this year is the return of The Man of Steel in the DCU’s Superman. There is a lot of commotion regarding the villains set to appear in the movie. By the looks of it, there are more than 5 villains in this movie, but most of them are recognizable faces, except for one. In the trailer, we see Superman fight against a guy wearing golden armor, who is confirmed to be called the Hammer of Boravia. Now, the big question at hand is, who is this armor-clad antagonist appearing in Superman? So let’s dive into who is the Hammer of Boravia in Superman (2025)?

What Do We Know about The Hammer of Boravia in Superman?

Some might wonder that this character we will see in Superman is an adaptation from DC comics. However, the truth is far from that. The Hammer of Boravia is not a DC Comics character but is instead an original character created for the Superman movie. Let’s talk about his origins or his true identity. We have absolutely zero information, but some theories suggest that this character could belong to the nation of Boravia, which could be the one where Superman stops the war. However, we will have to wait for the movie to release to find out if it’s true or not.

Who Could be Behind the Armor of the Hammer of Boravia?

Now that I have mentioned the details we currently have, let’s take a look at the theories surrounding this brand-new character. Some theories suggest that this character might turn out to be a decoy created by James Gunn. Fans believe that the Hammer of Boravia is a distraction, and in truth, the character seen fighting with Superman will turn out to be Lex Luthor in his battle suit.

Now, this theory seems off to me simply because the trailers have confirmed that Superman did stop a war somewhere, and Boravia is an actual country in the DC universe. So, there is a chance that they have come up with a character representing the country. There is another interesting theory that comes from Reddit user Wrothman, which states that the Hammer of Boravia might turn out to be a reinvented Avruskin (General Zod II). In the comics, he was a minor character, but DC could simply use the name, change everything else around him to make him one of the villains of the Superman movie.

The theory also suggests that in the movie, when Superman might stop the war in Boravia, the country might try to create its super soldier to mimic Superman’s powers, who will be Avruskin. However, he might end up needing the red sun to have his powers, and hence wears this armor to protect himself from the yellow sun’s radiation.

In my opinion, I believe that the Hammer of Boravia could turn out to be a twist played on the character of Amazo from DC Comics. It simply fits. He has heat vision, he can fly, he is incredibly strong, and looks like a machine covered in golden armor.

As of now, all we can do is speculate because, honestly, no one has any idea who this character is going to be, which is quite interesting since this is probably the first time the fanbase is out of ideas. So, all we can do as of now is wait for Superman to release so that we can finally see who is behind that suit of armor.
