What Are Seraphim in One Piece
As fans might recall, the introduction of Pacifistas during the Saboady Archipelago arc turned out to be traumatic. Fast-forward to the present day, and we have the upgraded version of those Pacifistas, who are referred to as the Seraphim.
Seraphims are regarded as a unique kind of Pacifista that were developed to fill the vacant position left by the Seven Warlords of the Sea. Dr. Vegapunk, the head of the Marine’s Special Science Group (SSG), is credited with Seraphim’s invention and perfection.
You must have noticed by now that each of these Seraphim bears an uncanny resemblance to the original warlords. That is because they are produced as the synthetic clones of the former Seven Warlords of the Sea, similar to how Pacifistas were made out of Bartholomew Kuma.
However, there are some surprising additions to the Seraphims as their creation was incorporated with King’s Lunarian lineage factor (similar to DNA). Furthermore, they were also enhanced with green blood, which allows them to replicate the power of the strongest devil fruits in One Piece.
Different Models of Seraphim
According to their creator, Dr. Vegapunk, the Seraphims are highly regarded as the most powerful form of humans in the annals of history. Furthermore, there is not just one model of Seraphim, as seven unique models were meticulously created to restore the Seven Warlords of the Sea. The distinct units of seraphim are as follows:
- S-Snake: Based on Pirate Empress Boa Hancock
- S-Hawk: Based on the World’s Greatest Swordsman, Dracule “Hawk Eyes” Mihawk
- S-Shark: Based on Knight of the Sea, Jinbe
- S-Bear: Based on the Tyrant, Bartholomew Kuma
- Untitled unit: Based on Sir Crocodile
- Untitled unit: Based on the Heavenly Yaksha, Donquixote Doflamingo
- Untitled unit: Based on Gecko Moria
Who Can Control the Seraphim?
Well, seraphim is the most powerful living weapon we have seen in One Piece until now. However, a few people have absolute authority over them. This basically means that these people can order the Seraphim to act according to their will, and they will follow. Those who can command the Seraphim are (in hierarchical order):
- Gorosei (The Five Elders)
- Dr. Vegapunk
- Sentomaru
- Anyone with an authority chip
So, the control over these cyborg monsters lies with the highest-ranking people in the world of One Piece. The person with an authority chip does not have absolute control over it, like the above three sets of commanders. That’s the reason why Koby struggled to control them in Amazon Lily.
How Powerful are the Seraphim?
Dr. Vegapunk stated that Seraphims are the pinnacle of science and that they are “the strongest form of humanity.” So let’s analyze how strong they are:
Powers from Pacifista
Since they are the upgraded versions of Pacifista, they are also cyborgs capable of utilizing advanced levels of built-in laser weaponry. They also inherit incredible levels of strength and endurance.
Lineage Factor of the Seven Warlords
The Seraphim are based on the Seven Warlords of the Seas in One Piece, and that doesn’t just apply to their appearances.
According to Pythagoras, one of Dr. Vegapunk’s satellites, the Seraphim acquire the innate skills and abilities of the people they were based on due to the lineage factor. For example – S-Hawk was able to replicate the exceptional swordsmanship of Mihawk. However, they can’t replicate the 100% skill of their originator.
The Seraphim also benefit from the perks of the formidable races they were based on. For example – S-Bear inherits the perks of Buccaneer’s race.
Powers of the Devil Fruit using Green Blood
The Seraphim’s bodies are infused with green blood. It is a synthetic blood made from devil fruit user’s lineage factor by Dr. Vegapunk.
This is what helps the Seraphim mimic the power of devil fruits. For example – S-Bear is capable of imitating the powers of Nikyu Nikyu no Mi.
Lineage Factor of Lunarian Alber
The powers of the Seraphim were further amplified by the linear factor of King aka Alber, a Lunarian. As a result, they were bestowed with the gift of being an inherently strong and resilient body.
Behavioral Pattern of Seraphim
Before we wrap up, there is one important thing to be addressed about the seraphim. That is, while Vegapunk is certain that he didn’t program them to have emotions like the people they were based on, one of the seraphim, S-Snake started expressing her emotions like Boa Hancock, possibly due to the lineage factors.
S-Snake had huge affection towards Monkey D. Luffy, the leader of the Straw Hat Pirates, and even started obeying his commands irrespective of her controlling functionality.
Maybe all of the seraphim retain the emotions of their originals in the future, but we don’t know for sure. But this is something that everyone should remember!
Now, it’s just the start of the domination by the Seraphim, and I’m sure we will be able to see more of their true powers in the upcoming manga chapters. With that said, tell us which is your favorite seraphim in the comments below.
The seraphim are the upgraded version of Pacifistas and are considered to be a special unit of Pacifisita. It was created by Dr. Vegapunk, and there are a total of seven different seraphim.
Not all the powers of the seraphim were revealed at this moment. However, S-Hawk stands tall for now with his incredible swordplay.
Dr. Vegapunk, the chief scientist of Marine’s Special Science Group is the creator of seraphim.
