Spoiler Warning: This article includes spoilers for the One Piece manga chapter 1129.

A brand-new Sun God hailing from the homeland of the Giants, Elbaf, made his appearance in the previous chapter of the One Piece manga. This Sun God from Elbaf was wearing a Wendigo mask, which made the fans curious to learn more about the man behind the mask. Similar to a scooby-doo adventure, One Piece fans started to theorize many of the potential characters who could be Elbaf’s sun god. However, Oda sensei proved everyone wrong by revealing the real identity of the Sun God from Elbaf in One Piece chapter 1129, and it’s a character we’ve already met long back.

The person behind the mask (who posed as Elbaf’s Sun God) is none other than Rodo, aka Road, who was seen with Hajrudin earlier in the story. Rodo was introduced as the navigator of the New Giant Warrior Pirates led by Hajrudin in the Grand Fleet cover story in chapter 898, titled “I will return.” The New Giant Warrior Pirates are an ally of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet.

Moreover, for those who aren’t manga nerds, Rodo was introduced when he was a newborn baby in Big Mom’s backstory. It was mentioned that he was born around the same time as Prince Loki and Goldberg.

In the past, we didn’t get a chance to see more of Rodo’s personality. However, Oda has started to flesh out his character in the ongoing Elbaf arc. Unlike all his comrades in the New Giant Warrior Pirates, Sun God Rodo expressed his hatred towards humans. He loathed the idea of the strongest warriors of Elbaf working under tiny humans.

It seems that Rodo will be a complicated character in this arc. He is obsessed with acting as a God to his slaved giants and the Straw Hat Pirates in a mysterious giant detention center, which he calls his miniature garden. As an avid manga reader, it’s fascinating to see Oda bring back a character from the past and slot him into a vital role as the Sun God in an important arc.

So, let’s wait and see what Oda has in store for Rodo in the upcoming chapters of the Elbaf arc in the One Piece manga.
