Is the Minecraft Marketplace Pass Worth it?

Now, let’s talk about something everyone is interested in: Should you get the Marketplace Pass? The short and straightforward answer is yes, Marketplace Pass is worth it. Now, let’s see why that’s the thing.

1. Lots of Additional Content for Console Players

First, Marketplace exists primarily to allow players on consoles to play with non-vanilla Minecraft content, like add-ons, custom worlds, and more. You could get these content features in some other way, but it’s a complex process, and not everyone is willing to waste time with it. So, Marketplace is a safe and malware-free way of accessing new high-quality content.

Marketplace Pass is therefore especially worth it for console players, as it offers lots of content additions, which you’d have to pay separately otherwise, you can experience for a whole month for just 4 dollars. What’s not worth it there?

2. Safe Access to New Content

Unlike console players, PC and mobile Bedrock players have access to custom content like add-ons through various websites, but they are also not that great. There is a lot of overlapping content and you could be easily tricked into downloading malware or spyware, of sorts. Nobody needs that and the Marketplace in general lets you completely avoid this problem. It is not free, but thanks to this subscription, it’s much cheaper than it would be otherwise.

3. Easily Figure Out Which Content You Like & Which You Don’t

Have you ever browsed through the Marketplace and stumbled upon something that seems cool, but you have no clue if you are going to like it? Well, Marketplace Pass will help you out tremendously in this regard. It’ll allow you to experience content and easily figure out what you like and what you don’t like.

There is no more guessing involved, as everything included in the Marketplace Pass is available to you. When you find something you like, you can then purchase it on its own, since it’s not going to be part of the Marketplace Pass forever.

4. Marketplace Pass Content Is Expected to Expand in the Future

The final reason why I believe Marketplace Pass is worth it is because it’ll probably grow in the near future. This is a great idea and makes sense in many ways. Creators will have more players try out their content, which will result in them probably making even more content.

With more content available and more subscriptions, Mojang will possibly increase the number of content features included in the Marketplace Pass.

So, if you think access to over 150 features is great, wait until you see possibly even 300+ different worlds, texture packs, skins, and more available. Not only that but add-ons will probably be part of the Marketplace Pass as well, so that’s even more awesome features for just $3.99. The price may increase slightly later, but it’ll still be more than worth it.

Marketplace Pass vs Realms Plus: What’s the Difference?

Marketplace Pass and Realms Plus subscriptions

Let’s make it clear upfront – Marketplace Pass is not the same as Realms Plus.

They are a little similar, but there are also some differences. Marketplace Pass provides access to lots of additional content features, but not a realm. You will get a realm server with the Realm Plus subscription, which also provides some separate content from the Marketplace. Not only that, but Marketplace Pass content is actually included in the Realms Plus subscription.

So, for the price of $7.99 per month, you get extra content and a realm, but for $3.99 you get the extra content only. This makes a lot of sense. In case you’re interested in the additional content but don’t care about a realm, then Marketplace Pass is for you.

Also, if you already have a Marketplace Pass and want to switch to Realms Plus, it’s a better option to first cancel the Marketplace Pass subscription and then purchase the Realms Plus.

So that’s everything you need to know about the new Minecraft Marketplace Pass subscription. It’s an interesting addition that will be beneficial to both players and creators, as well as Mojang.
