  • Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls currently holds "Mixed" reviews on Steam.
  • Multiple players have reported major performance issues and mandatory PSN logins plaguing the PC port.
  • Players must have a mandatory PlayStation Network account to access Marvel Tokon on PC.

Arc System Works’ latest 4v4 fighter, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, arrived yesterday, August 6, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and PC, skipping Xbox consoles. But, yet again, PC players find themselves in a different fight. Marvel Tokon’s PC launch currently holds “Mixed” reviews on Steam, with players slamming the mandatory PSN logins and poor performance.

Marvel Tokon PC Launch Plagued with PSN Logins and Optimization Issues

Marvel Tokon PC players on Steam are reporting online that the game not only requires a mandatory PlayStation Network account but also refuses to launch on Linux.

Additionally, they have pointed out other technical issues, including poor performance, low frame rates, and unusually high CPU usage, rendering the game “unplayable”.

Multiple performance issues plagued the Marvel Tokon Open Beta, and it appears those problems persist in the game’s final release. Naturally, Marvel Tokon’s unoptimized PC launch has been greeted with hundreds of “Mixed” Steam reviews, with only 43% being positive.

Steam user Gourmet went on a long rant, saying, “Such a fun game. Of course Sony has to ruin everything. The pc port plays miserably. The settings don’t even display correctly. Either the netcode or the poor performance makes the online play very bad, with rollback spikes. There’s also the Easy Anti-Cheat and all of Sony’s SDKs, which use a lot of resources. And let’s not mention the PSN requirement.”

Not just that – Sony’s PSN restrictions on its PC titles have blocked Marvel Tokon’s PC launch in 132 countries. With Sony returning to PlayStation exclusivity with its first-party games, players expected Marvel Tokon’s PC launch wouldn’t have the same mandatory PSN login issues as Helldivers 2 had in 2024. However, according to Steam users, that’s clearly not the case.

Another user named Lameme14 experienced some serious performance issues, writing, “Was very excited for the game, but as is I can’t recommend it; On grounds that I can’t actually launch the damn thing. The anti-cheat leads into a completely black window, and my CPU is being clocked to hell and back. Not to mention multiple instances of the PlayStation PC SDK trying to run.”

Fortunately, Arc System Works has addressed the performance issues on PC. In an X post by the Marvel Tokon page, the dev team stated that they’re “actively investigating these reports”. In the meantime, they have asked affected players to share more feedback with the team to help resolve these issues.

PC ports have been biting the dust lately, and it’s not entirely PlayStation’s fault. Recently, both Beast of Reincarnation and Halo: Campaign Evolved’s PC ports received “Mixed” reviews on Steam due to various login and performance issues. Marvel Tokon’s PC launch is, unfortunately, no different. But Arc System Works is actively working to eliminate these problems.
