Man of Tomorrow to Bring an Unusual Team-up; Plot Confirmed by James Gunn

DCU is winning hearts left, right, and center, whether it be with some of the most amazing TV shows or movies like Superman, the Gunn did not jam. Now, after reminding the world what Superman is all about, the story of Big Blue continues in a follow-up movie (not a sequel), titled Man of Tomorrow, set to release in 2027. Earlier, not many details were available to us regarding this project, but now, we have confirmed reports of a Lex Luthor and Superman team-up in Man of Tomorrow. So, where did this update come from? Let’s take a look.

Recently, James Gunn appeared on The Howard Stern Show, where he was asked about details regarding Man of Tomorrow. James Gunn stated that the movie will show us that Superman and Lex Luthor have to work together temporarily to take down a much bigger threat.

Gunn also mentioned that while it is the essence of it, this is not all about the story, and the plot is a bit more complicated than that. He said-

“It is a story about Lex Luthor and Superman having to work together to a certain degree against a much, much bigger threat, And it’s more complicated than that. It’s as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie. I relate to the character of Lex, sadly.”

Gunn also revealed that he is looking forward to starting the filming of this movie in April 2026 to stay on schedule for the tentative release date of July 9, 2027. Given the way DCU is progressing, it appears that things will eventually coalesce into a well-connected universe, but it’s still a long way off.
