The first official trailer for Ironheart has been released, and while the series was dunked by fans, the recently released trailer suggests that this series can turn out to be pretty good. While the highlight of this trailer was Riri Williams, there are also hints that point towards the introduction of a brand new villain into the MCU, who is none other than Mephisto. Now, people who are into Marvel comics are already aware of how big this could be, but if you are not one of these people, I’m here to tell you if Mephisto is in Ironheart and, if yes, what are his powers and origin.
Is Mephisto The Villain in Ironheart?
If we look at the trailer of Ironheart, there is a character played by Anthony Ramos who is referred to as ‘The Hood’ in the show. We see him give Riri a lot of money while being mysterious, and there are clips in the trailer itself where we see something growing on his back or him transforming into something.
While there is no official confirmation as of now, there is a strong chance that The Hood is one of the Demons, and Mephisto will act as the ultimate villain of Ironheart. This might be a huge turning point for the series, because if this speculation turns out to be true, it could affect the way this series is received in a very positive way, on the condition that they pull it off well.
Who Is Mephisto in Marvel Comics?
Talking about origins, Mephisto’s origin remains shrouded in mystery, as there are more than one instances in comics about how he came into being. Some stories tell that he is a banished Elder God. Some say that he was born when Demogorge killed all Elder Gods, a dark energy was released with their deaths, which gave rise to the first demons, one of which was Mephisto. However, the most popular origin story is that his origin has been lost to time, quite literally, since he is zillions of years old.

In Marvel comics, Mephisto is quite literally the Devil as we know him from scriptures, but with an artistic twist. If we talk about his powers, he possesses a vast number of supernatural powers. The interesting thing here is that his powers are fueled solely by the evil that persists on Earth, and since it is never going to end, his power is seemingly endless.
However, Mephisto and his realm have a symbiotic relationship, which means that the longer he stays away from his realm, the weaker he becomes. This is why he sends his demons to carry out his will.
In the case of Ironheart, I feel that The Hood is going to turn out to be one such demon who is on Earth to do Mephisto’s bidding. Well, this is just a theory based on what the trailer suggests, but I guess we will have to wait till the upcoming Marvel show releases to find out what will happen.
