How to Create Live Albums in Google Photos on Android, iOS, and Web

During its Made by Google event last week where the Mountain View giant unveiled a bunch of new products, the company also announced a new ‘Live Albums’ feature for Google Photos. The feature has finally gone live on Android, iOS, and the web, so if you’re wondering how to create Live Albums in Google Photos, look no further.

What are Live Albums

First things first, what are Live Albums and why should you care? Basically, Live Albums are self-updating albums that you can just create and leave. So you can have a Live Album of your kids and any time you click a new picture of your kid Google Photos will automatically add the photo to the Live Album.

All this is done by Google’s AI — the same AI we’ve seen in action over the last few years when it auto-tags people you click pictures of. Live Albums are sort of an extension of that very capability and they can be really useful.

Why, you ask? Look at it this way, say you have a kid, and you like to share your kid’s photos with your parents via Google Photos. With Live Albums you don’t need to worry about sharing new photos manually; simply share the Live Album with your parents, and it’ll auto update any time you click a new picture of your kid. Easy right?

That’s it, your album has been created and you can share it with your friends and family.

Photo Sharing Made Easy with Live Albums

Live Albums are definitely a cool new feature in the Google Photos app. Even though the company showed them off as a feature to make the upcoming Google Home Hub’s photo frame feature more useful and dynamic, it’s obvious that Live Albums are great to automatically share new photos of specific people and pets with your friends and family without having to manually select and share the photos.

So, now that Live Albums are here, go on and create your own Live Albums to share with friends and family, or in preparation of the Google Home Hub, which by the way, looks like a really interesting device.
