House of the Dragon Season 2 keeps on getting intriguing with each episode, not only in terms of storyline but also in bringing numerous exciting characters into the picture. One such character is Ulf White, who appeared in HOTD Season 2 Episode 3. As soon as he arrived, he revealed one of the most shocking things that no one saw coming. Ulf White told the people sitting with him at the bar that he is the son of Baelon Targaryen, King Viserys’ and Daemon’s father. Well, as Ulf White plays a significant part in the Dance of the Dragons, let us find out more about the character.
Who Is Ulf White in House of the Dragon
Ulf White, formerly known as Ulf the White or Ulf the Sot, was a dragonseed (a Valryian bastard) before claiming Silverwing. The character is portrayed by the British actor Tom Bennett in House of the Dragon Season 2.
For the unacquainted, a dragonseed is someone who is either fathered by or mothered by anyone of Valyrian descent. Well, in that case, a possibility suggests that he can be the bastard son of someone from House Targaryen or House Velaryon.
Ulf White started as a man-at-arms at the beginning of the Dance of Dragons, but when Jace Velaryon called for the dragonseeds to tame Silverwing and Vermithor, he claimed the former dragon. Ulf White fought the battle of Gullet alongside Jace Velaryon and his fellow dragonseeds, Hugh and Nettles.
Following the fall of King’s Landing, Rhaenyra rewarded Ulf and Hugh by making them knights and giving them lands at Driftmark. However, Ulf and Hugh betrayed Rhaenyra during the first Battle of Tumbleton and sided with the Greens.
Over time, Ulf was named Lord of Bitterbridge by Daeron Targaryen, but he wanted more, so he showed interest in Highgarden. Seeing his attitude, Prince Daeron signed the warrants for Hugh and Ulf’s execution.
However, before the Caltrops could kill them, the second battle of Tumbleton began, and Hugh was killed. Ulf, however, was drunk and asleep, so he didn’t participate in the battle and survived. The following day, one of the Caltrops, Ser Hobert Hightower, killed him by poisoning his drink.
Ulf White was a crucial character in the books, and it’ll be the same in the show. However, it would be interesting to find out if the show creators will choose the same path for him as it was in the books or if they’ll take some creative liberty and write a different journey for the character.
