After enthralling the fans for two months, the highly anticipated finale for season 2 of House of the Dragon aired today. As expected, the final episode was filled with plenty of surprises and sprinkled some mysteries into the mix. One such is Daemon’s vision again but this time it featured our mother of dragons, Daenerys Targaryen. Keep reading to learn more about Daemon’s vision involving Daenerys in House of the Dragon season 2.
Why Did Daemon See Daenerys in His Vision
Throughout this season, Daemon has been stuck within Harrenhal and has various visions while his inner struggle for the throne continues. In the finale, Alys Rivers claimed Daemon’s finally ready to face his visions. Thus, he touched the blood welled out of the eyes in the Weirwood tree at Harrenhal with Alys’ assistance. This took him to a series of visions of the future, where he saw the Three-Eyed Raven and a white walker leading an army. As he went further, it seemed like he was having a glimpse of the death that awaited him.
Is Daenaerys Targaryen the Prince That Was Promised
Right after this, he saw his future kin, Daenerys Targaryen, in the future, where she rose from the ashes along with three of her new dragons. It is intended that Daemon saw Daenerys as the prince/princess that was promised in this vision. We have also seen people considering Dany the Khaleesi to be the promised princess in Game of Thrones. However, we are well aware of how things ended with the so-called protector of the realm destroying Kings’ Landing, and it was Arya Stark who killed the Night King with the Valyrian steel dagger. However, Daemon’s vision has once again retconned this theory and it is now believed that Daenerys was the Prince that Was Promised All Along.
As the events that transpire here are set before the incidents in GOT, it is clear that Daemon was also on Team Daenerys’ side, with his vision showing Dany to be the savior. Sadly, it didn’t turn out to be the way these people wanted it to be. That said, why do you think Dany was shown here? Let us know in the comments below.
Is Daemon the Night King
Daemon’s vision in HOTD Season 2 Episode 8 also shows us the army of the dead, led by the Night King, marching as we saw in Game of Thrones. Now, if you are wondering whether Daemon is the Night King, you are mistaken. Daemon is not the Night King. In Game of Thrones, we already saw how the Night King was created by the Children of the Forest.
