Merely a couple-odd weeks after the official debut of the Honor 20 series in London, the Chinese giant today launched the entire lineup in India. This lineup features the flagship Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro which sport not only the company’s flagship chipset but also quad-cameras, alongwith the Honor 20i with a slightly less powerful chipset and a trio of cameras for mid-range users.
Honor 20 Series: Price and Availability
Honor has kept the choices limited and launched only a single configuration for all of the different Honor 20 variants. The Honor 20i with 4GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage is going to retail at Rs 14,999 and the Honor 20 with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage will be sold for Rs 32,999. The former goes on sale from June 18. whereas the sales for the latter will kick-off on June 25 on Flipkart and other offline retail channels.
The Honor 20 Pro is going to go head-to-head with Black Shark 2 and Oppo Reno 10x Zoom at the Rs 39,999 price point with 6GB RAM and 256GB storage. This flagship is currently said to be coming soon and no exact availability details have been revealed.
The Honor 20 Pro will only be available in a Phantom Blue color variant in India whereas the Honor 20 will be available in Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue colors. The Honor 20i sees 3 color variants being launched in India, i.e Gradient Red, Gradient Blue, and Magic Night Black.
Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro: Specs
Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro are not a whole lot different from one another, except for on the camera front. Both of them feature a holographic 3D mesh design on the glass rear panel and a 6.26-inch Full-HD+ display with a punch-hole on the front. There’s a 32MP selfie camera sitting in the punch-hole of both the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro.
Both of these smartphones are powered by the Kirin 980 chipset, coupled with up to 6GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage. The storage is not expandable and you can find a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, integrated right into the power button. This is a design choice that I really like as it keeps the design neat and doesn’t need to adopt some new technology that could be slower.
Both the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro are running Android Pie-based Magic UI 2.1 out-of-the-box and the similarities end there.
In the camera department, well, Honor 20 Pro packs a quad rear-camera module with a primary 48MP (f/1.4) Sony IMX586 sensor, coupled with a 16MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide angle lens with 117-degree FOV, an 8MP telephoto lens (f/2.4) and finally, a 2MP macro lens for crisp close-up shots. There’s dual-OIS and laser autofocus available onboard as well.
As for the Honor 20, there’s a minor difference in the camera unit. The primary sensor onboard is still the 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor, but with an f/1.8 aperture, and a 16MP ultra-wide angle lens and the 2MP macro lens are onboard as well. However, the final sensor is now a depth sensor. Also, there’s no stabilization added to any lenses on the Honor 20, which is saddening to see on a sub-Rs 35,000 smartphone.
The Honor 20 Pro also holds a larger 4,000 mAh battery pack as compared to the 3,750 mAh battery housed in the Honor 20. You can check out the key specs for both of these smartphones right here:

Honor 20i: Specs and Features
In addition to the flagships – Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro, the Chinese giant also launched its new mid-range smartphone to take on the likes of Redmi Note 7 Pro and Realme 3 Pro. Called the Honor 20i, the device features a waterdrop notch, a slightly less powerful SoC and triple cameras on the rear instead of four.
The Honor 20i features a 6.21-inch FHD+ screen with a dewdrop notch that houses the 32MP selfie shooter. The triple camera module on the rear comprises of a 24MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra wide-angle sensor with a 120-degree FOV, and a third depth sensor. The smartphone is powered by the Kirin 710 chipset, coupled with 4GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, and a 3,400mAh battery.
The latest offerings from Honor arrive at a time when its parent company, Huawei, has been a really hard time because of the trade ban imposed by the U.S and all companies breaking ties with it. So, it begs us to question whether Honor will still find success in a competitive market like India? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
