Honkai Star Rail keeps increasing their character roster with each new version. The game currently has 60 characters, with two more releasing in the upcoming 2.7 version. Like most gacha games, it is common for the meta to shift with each new character release, and that has been true for HSR as well. Many of the old beloved characters are seldom used now, mainly because they are no longer as effective in the current meta of the game.
Nonetheless, these characters are still very beloved in the community and we have already seen how certain characters got a buff with the introduction of new Relics and support characters. Here are 5 beloved characters that require a serious buff in Amphoreus in HSR 3.x versions to protect them from power creep.
5. Blade
Blade was easily one of the most sought-after characters after his release, and is still loved in the community. He featured a wide range of attacks that all worked based on losing his HP. This made Blade a tricky character to play, but the damage he dealt quickly made up for it. With the introduction of enemies having massive health pools, Blade no longer does enough damage, even with his best team, to be counted as a top DPS unit.
Unfortunately, Blade has not received a dedicated Support that can truly increase his damage output based on his health consumed, someone like Furina in Genshin Impact. The normal Hypercarry support characters definitely increase his damage, but his health-draining mechanic makes him a liability against the current bosses, especially in the MoC.
There has been a leak about a new health-draining mechanic getting introduced in Amphoreus, so hopefully it helps Blade mains bounce back.
4. Silver Wolf
There was a time when Silver Wolf was considered a must-have support unit in Honkai Star Rail, as she provided something extremely unique. Her Skill could add a weakness to the enemy based on her allies, making it easier for players to take on fights without having the correct DPS unit of that element.
However, her importance has nosedived as many new characters can now apply their element as weakness by themselves, or simply ignore the enemy weakness type while dealing damage. This leaves Silver Wolf useful only as a debuffer, which is sadly limited to single-target attacks.
When it comes to debuffs or reducing enemy defense, Pela as a 4-star character can do it to all enemies at the same time. The best teams for Silver Wolf at the moment are Mono Quantum teams and Acheron teams.
Sadly, Mono Quantum teams have lost their importance as well, and there are a ton of better Supports for Acheron than Silver Wolf. It would be great if Silver Wolf received a buff in Amphoreus, but I personally have no idea how that can be possible with her current abilities.
3. Kafka / Black Swan (DoT Teams)
My favorite team in Honkai Star Rail has always been DoT teams. With the introduction of Black Swan, Kafka and DoT teams received a big buff but it’s still very weak compared to other teams. The current meta in Honkai Star Rail is Super Break and Follow-up Attacks, making DoT teams quite hard to play against the recently released bosses.
However, the DoT teams still dominate in the Simulated Universe, as the Nihility blessings are extremely broken in that game mode.
The DoT teams are the easiest to get a buff in Amphoreus, as we already know what it needs to return to prominence. All the DoT teams need is a dedicated DoT sustain and a Super DoT damage mechanic, like the one available in the Simulated Universe.
As DoT cannot Crit in the normal game mode, the damage output is severely decreased. Taking care of these two elements will easily make the DoT teams return to prominence in Honkai Star Rail.
2. Fu Xuan
Fu Xuan was considered the undisputed best Sustain at one time in Honkai Star Rail. She was so strong in the meta that most players couldn’t even think about her ever dropping in prominence. Fu Xuan’s kit is unique as it mitigates damage, allowing Fu Xuan to get a larger share of damage taken by other allies.
This allowed Fu Xuan to sustain any team in the game against the most hard-hitting enemies until more AoE bosses were introduced. As Fu Xuan takes a share of the damage of all allies, she becomes extremely vulnerable against high DPS AoE enemies, taking a ton of extra damage when they attack at the same time.
With the introduction of Aventurine, who could constantly shield allies and prevent them from taking damage, Fu Xuan’s importance was reduced further. Sadly, recent leaks have revealed that Fu Xuan may get another nerf in Amphoreus instead, so Fu Xuan mains won’t be very happy to hear it.
1. Jingliu
Jingliu is by far one of the best-designed and lore-driven characters introduced in Honkai Star Rail, but she is barely used nowadays. When Jingliu was first released, she easily became the best Hypercarry in the game, overtaking Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae.
She could deal almost the same amount of damage as Dan Heng IL, while not having any of the downsides like Skill Point issues. Her kit provided her with high Crit Rate, allowing players to simply build for Crit Damage and deal off-the-chart damage to enemies, while also freezing them.
Sadly, the Ice Queen of Honkai Star Rail never received a buff since her release, which is extremely surprising. As a Hypercarry, Jingliu doesn’t fit in any of the current meta like Break and Follow-up attack teams.
Her damage, even though very strong, is not enough against the hardest MoC runs. Other than that, the last few cycles of MoC are starved for Ice weakness type, giving players another reason to not use Jingliu.
She is still a major player in the Honkai Star Rail story, as it was recently revealed that she has put forth the God Slayer Protocol to the Marshal of the Xianzhou Luofu, so we might still see a buff for her in the future.
So, these are the 5 characters that need a serious buff in the upcoming Amphoreus arc. Tell us your opinion on the power creep in HSR and what can be done to bring these characters back to glory.
