Just like you, I am a Helldiver through and through. And while I fully appreciate charging onto enemies while yelling, “For Democracy!” I realize we need ample protection to actually survive. Thankfully, the game packs plenty of the best armor sets, each with its own advantages. However, it can quickly get confusing to decide which one to pick. To make your struggle against the Terminids and Automatons easier, we decided to sort through the mess and pick out the best armor in Helldivers 2. So, with that, let’s begin equipping.
Before beginning, I want to point out that armor in Helldivers 2 is categorized between Light, Medium, and Heavy. Depending on the type of armor you wear, it comes with its own armor rating, speed, and stamina regeneration, which is useful on the battlefield. Additionally, some armor sets in Helldivers 2 have passives which are essentially added perks. You unlock armor sets mostly from Warbonds or buy them from the Super Store. With that, let’s begin.
1. CE-35 Trench Engineer
- How to Unlock: Tier 3 of Helldivers Mobilize Warbond (10 Medals)
- Armor Type: Medium
- Passives: Yes
We begin our list with the armor you can unlock fairly early in the game. The CE-35 Trench Engineer Armor is a medium armor with a balanced set of stats. Besides being fairly affordable, it soaks a good amount of damage and can hence stop most attacks.
The added passive element on this armor reduces recoil by 30% when crouched or prone and increases your grenade capacity by +2 thanks to the passive engineering kit. Perfect for Terminid bug hole missions, the CE-35 is, according to us, one of the best Helldivers 2 armor sets.
2. CM-09 Bonesnapper
- How to Unlock: 4th tier of the Helldivers Mobilize Warbond (15 Medals)
- Armor Type: Medium
- Passives: Yes
Another free Warbond armor you can unlock is the CM-09 Bonesnapper, which looks a little similar to the ODST armor from Halo. Thankfully, just like that, not only does the armor ooze style, but it also packs a lot of defensive capability.
Made for folks who love to play a support role, the Bonesnapper gives players two extra stims and even increases their duration by two seconds. And believe us, two seconds of extra healing can make all the difference on the battlefield. So get the bonesnapper for the perfect combination of support and firepower.
3. FS-05 Marksman
- How to Unlock: 2nd tier of the Helldivers Mobilize Warbond (6 Medals)
- Armor Type: Heavy
- Passives: Yes
The FS-05 Marksman is an armor you might instinctively unlock while breezing through the warbonds. After all, it looks better than the default Helldivers 2 armor and chunkier than others. And that is true, as it is heavy and can stop damage from enemies. However, you have to sacrifice speed if you want to enjoy this armor.
The FS-05 Marksman also comes with the Fortified Passive. This means you get 30% less recoil when crouched or prone and 50% protection from explosions. With Automatons returning and attacking numerous planets, I think this is the armor to buy and wear unless you have something better.
4. CM-14 Physician
- How to Unlock: On the 9th tier of the Helldivers Mobilize Warbond (70 Medals)
- Armor Type: Medium
- Passives: Yes
Have you ever thought of becoming a war medic in Helldivers 2? Do you want to play the role of being a saving grace for your teammates? Well, CM-14 Physician is the perfect armor for you. This is another medium armor that provides the same protection as any other in its category. But it sports a medical design, mimicking garb and medical colors.
It also comes with the Med-Kit passive. Wearing this armor increases the stim healing duration to 2 and gives you two more handy injections that just might save your life. Or, well, your fellow Helldivers’.
5. DP-11 Champion of the People
- How to Unlock: Last tier of the Helldivers Mobilize Warbond (100 Medals)
- Armor Type: Medium
- Passives: Yes
So, if you have made it to the last tier of the warbond, it means you’ve valiantly fought every oppressor of the Super Earth. As a reward, you can unlock another medium-type armor that is aptly named. The DP-11 Champion of the People carries the standard Helldivers armor design. However, it is in a different color scheme that determines you are indeed a people’s champion.
While armor protection and stamina regen stay the same across the board, you get an important passive. Democracy Protects adds a 50% modifier to the chance of you not dying after taking lethal damage. Furthermore, it prevents chest hemorrhages because you are a people’s champion. People’s champions don’t bleed out. So get this armor for that extra protection and clout.
6. SA-32 Dynamo
- How to Unlock: Tier 3 of the Steeled Veterans Warbond (64 Medals)
- Armor Type: Heavy
- Passives: Yes
If you went out and purchased the Steeled Veterans warbond or got yourself the deluxe edition, you are eligible to unlock the SA-32 Dynamo. It is a heavy armor set, which means while your stamina regeneration will be decreased, you have increased resistance to damage.
Let’s talk about the passive because that is what we are here for. This armor comes with the passive name Servo-Assisted. That allows Helldivers to increase their throwing range by 30% and provides +50% limb health. While limb health might sound something trivial, it is actually important as nobody wants their hands blown off.
7. FS-11 Executioner
- How to Unlock: Exclusive to Superstore shop rotation (150 Super Credits)
- Armor Type: Heavy
- Passives: Yes
This is one of the many armor sets in Helldivers 2 that you can purchase from the in-game superstore. The FS-11 Executioner is a heavy armor that performs like any other heavy armor on this list. However, the look fully sets it apart, donning a shiny, metallic finish.
The Fortified passive also ensures it is a great heavy armor, providing 50% protection against explosive damage. It also reduces recoil when crouched or prone by 30%. However, we do suggest skipping it if the look doesn’t take your fancy. It’s not for everyone!
8. SC-30 Trailblazer Scout
- How to Unlock: Tier 7 for Helldivers Mobilize Warbond (50 Medals)
- Armor Type: Medium
- Passives: Yes
Sometimes, scout work can do wonders for your team. It can prepare your squad for what is to come and help you prepare. The SC-30 Trailblazer Scout armor is for that job. It is a light armor, which means while you will take higher damage, you will be swifter on your feet.
This armor also comes with a passive called Scout. It makes it 20% difficult for enemies to detect you and generates radar scans every 2 seconds via the markers placed on a map. While we do understand not many Helldivers want to be scouts, take this armor if you decide to take one for the team!
These are our picks for some of my favorite armors in Helldivers 2. Barring one choice, you can unlock every armor mentioned here by playing the game, and that is what I love about the game. So, which armor did you end up getting? Let us know in the comments below.
