Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 Theme and Trailers

The official name of Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 is “SHOWDOWN”. This coincides with the theme of an epic showdown inbound between the Ice King and The Foundation, who is the leader of Fortnite’s heroic faction called The Seven.

The name was revealed in the first teaser for the new season, where Ice King was seen walking in his castle along a hallway full of Fortnite characters frozen in ice. Among them were Captain America, The Foundation, Orelia, and many more. The teaser ended with a close-up of The Foundation’s helmet (which seems to be a new skin) and the text SHOWDOWN with the new season logo and the text: The Ice King and The Foundation will return in Fortnite Showdown (something very similar to Avengers Doomsday).

While earlier the season was themed to be based on Norse mythology, it seems like it’s taking a different direction of a faction war, where players will choose a side and battle enemies while earning rewards for their side. This is similar to Chapter 2 Season 2, where players chose a side between the Ghost and Shadow factions and unlocked skins for that particular faction in the Battle Pass.

The second teaser showed the ongoing season’s villain, the Dark Voyager, hunting Zero Shards across realities as he captured Fishstick on his ship at Lethal Labs and traveled to the Sprite homeland to steal their shard. Once he returned, he brought along a blue version of Fishstick with him, who is the new Battle Pass skin. The teaser then ended with a familiar text that said, “Fishstick will return in Fortnite Showdown.”

Fortnite Showdown Battle Pass Leaks

The next Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 Battle Pass is rumored to be called the Showdown Pass, and it will consist of remixes of some of the fan-favorite skins from the past, as well as a few new characters.

The latest key art revealed confirms that The Rock will indeed return to play The Foundation in the Chapter 7 Season 2 Battle Pass, this time sporting a brand new look and outfit. Among other popular skins, the Battle Pass will consist of new designs for the Ice King, The Order, and Jules. Furthermore, players will see a Bugs Bunny collab, a new Fishstick skin, and two other new characters that seem to be fighting for the Ice King.

The new V-Bucks pricing will also take effect for the Battle Pass, and the rewards granted to players will also be lower than before. Check out our Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 Battle Pass guide for complete info on the upcoming pass.

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 Rivals Lobby Screen

Apart from the skins, it looks like Epic Games will also be introducing a Rivals screen in the lobby to reflect the Showdown theme. The feature is expected to work similarly to the faction system from Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2, which saw players choosing between G.H.O.S.T. and S.H.A.D.O.W. that played with the season’s spy war storyline.

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 Map and POI Leaks

The latest Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 map will be themed around the snow biome, as most of the portion of the map will be covered in snow. So far, only the Ice King castle POI, officially titled “Frigid Fortress,” has been revealed from the latest teasers.

But since this is going to be a rivalry-based season between The Seven and the Ice King, players can also expect to see The Seven HQ and outposts as other POIs spread across the island. Since the map won’t be completely overhauled, we expect at least four new POIs to be added, and some will be removed from the existing island. Check out our Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 map guide to stay updated with new POIs and locations as they are revealed.

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 Gameplay Leaks

While most of the gameplay changes have been kept under wraps for Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2, leakers have spotted some info that seems quite exciting. The official description of Fortnite Showdown reads, “Fortnite Showdown. Take Down Your Rivals. Settle the Score.”

“Challenge another player as your Rival, wield awesome new weapons, join the showdown between The Foundation and the Ice King, and… drive the Battle Bus?”

This confirms the rivalry theme coming next season, where players will choose a side and rival others on the island. Furthermore, a new SMG was also teased in the Dark Voyager teaser, which is rumored to be a new addition to the Chapter 7 Season 2 loot pool.

Save the World Goes Free-to-Play

Another massive update coming to Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 is that the game’s PvE mode, Save the World, is finally going free-to-play. The mode will receive a massive overhaul with a new content update and changes to its loot system and gameplay, as well as a UI update.

This update, however, is scheduled to go live on April 16, 2026. This means that players will need to wait for almost a month until the new Save the World update goes live. You can read more about it on out Fortnite Save the World coverage here.

New Scoped AR

In addition to the new currency, the newly released gameplay footage also showcases a brand new Scoped AR being added to the Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 loot pool. From the gameplay, the new rifle seems to be a tap-fire weapon rather than being fully automatic, with an attached scope.

New Revolver
