After unveiling the Chinese version of MIUI 10 at its recent press event in Shenzhen, Xiaomi may be prepping to launch the global version of the ROM in New Delhi on June 7 alongside the Redmi Y2 smartphone. The company, on Friday, released a 21-second video teaser hinting at the unveiling of the global edition of MIUI 10, although the exact ETA wasn’t officially revealed.
With the Redmi Y2 already expected to be launched in the country next week, it won’t be a massive surprise if the company also announces its latest custom ROM at the same event. The teaser was first posted on the official MIUI community forums before being shared on Twitter by the managing director of Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain.
It is worth noting here that Xiaomi had unveiled the global version of MIUI 9 at the Redmi Y1 launch last year, so as things stand now, all things point at the company taking the wraps off of the MIUI 10 Global ROM in five days’ time. It will be interesting to see, however, if the company will also announce the timeline for the rollout of the new software and the list of devices that will be updated to it.
As mentioned already, Xiaomi will unveil the selfie-focused Redmi Y2 mid-ranger on June 7. The device will be sold exclusively on Amazon in India, and is expected to be a re-branded version of the Redmi S2 handset that was unveiled in China last month. It comes with a 5.99-inch HD+ (1440×720) display, the Snapdragon 625 SoC, a dual-camera (12MP+5MP) setup on the back and a 16MP camera on the front with a soft light flash.
