- Xbox Mythic Achievements are now officially live for Xbox Insiders.
- Completing all of a game's original achievements earns it Mythic status, excluding DLC achievements.
- Meanwhile, Xbox has added Mythic Achievements to all eligible titles, dating back to Xbox 360 games.
On September 23, we got our first look at the Xbox Mythic Achievement through a new Xbox PC app update. Fast forward to September 29, Xbox officially announced that Mythic Achievements had gone live for all Insiders, bringing the highly requested feature to the platform. So, here’s everything you need to know about the new Xbox Mythic achievement.
What Is the Xbox Mythic Achievement?
The Mythic Achievement is basically Xbox’s answer to a PlayStation Platinum Trophy. On PlayStation, when you earn all the trophies for a game, let’s say you earn all trophies for Marvel’s Wolverine, you’ll unlock its Platinum trophy, titled “I’m The Best There Is..”

It doesn’t unlock any themes or profile icons or anything on PlayStation, but adds one more Platinum Trophy to your trophy count and increases your Trophy Level. Similarly, if you complete all achievements for a game, for example, completing all EA FC 27 achievements, you’ll unlock its Mythic Achievement on Xbox.
If you’re an Xbox Insider, you can check your profile to see which games you’ve earned Mythic status in. However, it doesn’t award any extra Gamerscore. The question is: how do you exactly unlock a Mythic Achievement, and do DLC achievements count?
How to Earn Xbox Mythic Achievement
According to the official Xbox Wire blog post, completing all of a game’s original achievements earns you a Mythic Achievement and grants the game Mythic status. For example, if you’ve already earned all Forza Horizon 6 achievements, you’ll earn Mythic status as soon as you update your console, given that you’re an Insider.
Achievements added after launch will carry an “add-on” label, and they don’t count towards the Xbox Mythic status. So, if Forza Horizon 6 has new DLC achievements, you don’t need to unlock them to earn a Mythic status for the game.

Xbox now displays this progress across the platform, including in the Guide and Achievement details, so you can continue working toward your next Mythic Achievement.
Xbox added a new Gaming tab for Insiders that showcases achievements, Gamerscore milestones, and Mythic Achievements across your games. You can also check which games your friends have earned Mythic status in.
Does Xbox Mythic Achievement Have an Unlock Animation?
Yes, Xbox Mythic Achievements do have an unlock sound and animation, similar to a PlayStation Platinum Trophy. The animation appears when you unlock the final achievement in a game’s base achievement list and trigger Mythic status.
A new notification sound plays as soon as you unlock the Mythic Achievement, lasting for around 10 seconds with the new animation. Additionally, the games you’ve unlocked the Mythic status on receive exclusive Mythic frames, and since your friends can see your Mythic progress, you can brag about it to them.
How to Track Xbox Mythic Achievement Progress
Xbox has made it easier to track the headway you’ve made towards the Mythic achievement with a new progress bar at the top of each game’s achievement list. The progress bar shows which Achievements you still need to unlock Mythic status, how much Gamerscore each one is worth, and more.

For example, you can check out the recently released Minecraft Dungeons 2 achievements list on Xbox’s new progress bar to see how it works. Since the game is available on Xbox Game Pass, you can unlock its achievements by subscribing to the service.
You can also filter your view to focus on the original achievements you still need to unlock, which eliminates all DLC “add-on” achievements.
How Does the Xbox Mythic Achievement Affect Old and New Games?
For older games, the Xbox Mythic Achievement works retroactively. Xbox announced it has added Mythic Achievements to all eligible games you’ve already completed, going as far back as Xbox 360 titles. So, if you’re an Insider, you may already see some games in your Xbox catalog with Mythic status.

Xbox confirmed it will add new achievements to select original Xbox games, with Mythic forming part of the same project. This means you won’t have to replay older games just to chase a single achievement, which makes the system much more convenient.
For newer games, you’ll need to complete the original achievement list to earn Mythic status after they launch. Of course, DLC achievements won’t count, so if you’ve already completed a recent game like earning all of 007 First Light’s achievements, you should already have its Mythic Achievement.
Some final achievements won’t award Gamerscore, but they will give you Mythic status and the heroic frame for your efforts.
All Major Xbox Games with Mythic Achievement
While Xbox has several games with the Mythic Achievement active already, Gears of War E-Day will be the first major Xbox release of 2026 to support it at launch on October 6, 2026. As showcased in the Xbox Wire blog, Gears of War E-Day’s achievement list features an achievement that awards no Gamerscore, titled “The Lucky Ones Died on E-Day”, which is basically its Mythic Achievement.

Following this pattern, Xbox’s upcoming releases, including Fable and Clockwork Revolution, and even GTA 6 could also support Mythic Achievements at launch. That said, here’s a list of the recent titles you can currently earn a Mythic Achievement on:
- Forza Horizon 6
- Minecraft Dungeons 2
- EA FC 27
- 007 First Light
- Dispatch
- Onimusha: Way of the Sword
- Halo: Campaign Evolved
- Doom: The Dark Ages
- LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight
- Control Resonant
The list spans 900+ eligible games, stretching back to the Xbox 360 days, so you can expect to earn Mythic status on all upcoming Xbox games, be it multiplatform or console exclusive.
Does Your Xbox Profile Theme Change Mythic Achievement Color?
Yes, your Xbox profile theme automatically changes the Mythic Achievement color. For example, setting your Xbox profile color theme to red will make your Mythic Achievements and their status frame appear red instead of the default green.

Here’s how to change your Xbox profile color:
- Go to Settings at the top right corner of your screen (gear icon)
- Select General, then Personalization
- Next, select My color & theme
- Choose any color you want
You can also create your own Custom Color through the same Xbox settings, and whichever color you select will automatically apply to your Mythic Achievement frames.
