Antares is the main villain of Solo Leveling, who played a significant role in the duel between the Rulers and the Monarchs. After Ashborn, it’s Antares who deserved the title of the ‘Strongest Monarch.’ He is known as the Monarch of Destruction, and the one who became the main adversary for Jinwoo.

His might makes him egoistic, and like every other Monarch, he looks down on humanity. However, he is also someone who would show respect to his powerful foes. That’s also the reason he ridiculed Jinwoo’s son, Sung Suho, for being a weakling compared to his father.

After the Absolute Being’s death, Antares was scared of Ashborn’s might, so he instructed Rakan and Baran to bring him to his knees. However, the Shadow Monarch scared Rakan to the extent that he ran away from the battlefield, and Baran tried harder to fight the opponent but got killed in the most brutal fashion.

Antares likes to create chaos wherever he goes and whenever he wishes to. He boasts some of the greatest abilities that help him cause tremendous destruction. When the Rulers and the Monarchs succeeded in finding their vessels in the human world, Antares was left behind, so he had to arrive in his natural form.

Jinwoo Killed Antares in Two Different Timelines

In the Final Battle Arc, after Antares discovered that Jinwoo had eradicated some of the strongest Monarchs, he decided to confront him all alone. He wanted nothing but only the Shadow Monarch to come out, so he started causing destruction by burning an S-Rank hunter named Jay Mills alive and massacring millions of people.

However, Jinwoo showed up after several days, and Antares didn’t take time to order his army to tackle him. He underestimated the enemy, and the Shadow Monarch succeeded in knocking out each minion of Antares.

After taking down his soldiers, Shadow Exchange helped Jinwoo to drag Antares to a remote island. He then started attacking the Monarch without wasting any time. However, his initial attacks were countered by the opponent. In the middle of the duel, Antares also asked him to join the Monarchs in the fight against the Rulers if he didn’t want humankind to suffer. However, Jinwoo refused and made fun of him instead.

After fighting with the Shadow Monarch’s vessel for some time, Antares succumbed to his fate after getting injured by the spears that Rulers stabbed him with. However, the Monarch was revived when Jinwoo asked the Rulers to rewind time using the Cup of Reincarnation. This time, he had every memory of the events that occurred before his death, but still, he didn’t step forward to help the other Monarchs as he only wanted to kill Jinwoo.

The clash between the two occurred after 27 years when Jinwoo killed every Monarch except Antares. The Monarch tried harder to kill Jinwoo by trying to burn him, but this time, Jinwoo didn’t have to make any huge effort to finish his story.
