The Last of Us Season 2 Ending Explained
Keeping in mind the two words spilled by Nora, i.e. Wheel and Whale, Ellie embarks on her revenge journey to find and kill Abby. She gets to witness the war between Wolves and Seraphites; Ellie is nearly killed by a Seraphite executioner, but it is her destiny that doesn’t let her die.
Later, she arrives at the aquarium, where she overhears Owen and Mel, two of Abby’s significant allies, talking about her. Ellie points a gun at them and asks them to reveal Abby’s whereabouts if they want to live.
When Owen tries to reach his gun, Ellie shoots him without thinking twice. She also ends up killing a pregnant Mel, who wants Ellie to perform a C-section and take out the baby immediately, but it’s too late. Jesse and Tommy arrive at the location to take Ellie back to the theatre. Tommy does not show up to fuel Ellie’s hatred against Abby, but he is there to take her back to Jackson.
When Tommy heads out to the lobby, Ellie and Jesse make peace with each other. However, before everything can get well with the Jackson crew, Abby shows up and instantly hits Tommy. Ellie and Jesse rush to the lobby, and Jesse gets killed instantly when Abby shoots him. Abby is shocked to see Ellie and looks determined to kill Tommy because she believes that he is the one who has been killing her friends behind her back.
However, Ellie breaks the bubble by revealing that she is the one. Abby says that she let her live, but she has ‘wasted’ it. Without wasting any time, she shoots Ellie, but the screen then turns black, and we don’t get to see if Ellie dies or if she dodges the bullet.
The concluding moments of the episode take us three days back to the WLF facility, where we meet Abby. So, now we should be prepared to see the story moving forward from Abby’s perspective in Season 3.
