Is Thanos Returning to MCU? Yes, If Marvel Follows This Comic Storyline

By the end of the Infinity Saga, we all saw that Thanos was taken down by The Avengers which cost them Tony Stark’s life. However, is Thanos really gone? There have been a lot of theories revolving around the death of Thanos some of which claim that he can make a comeback to the Marvel universe. Now that it has been confirmed that Doctor Doom is going to be the main bad guy of the Multiverse Saga, certain theories make it possible for Thanos to come back to the MCU. On top of that, we are getting reports from multiple credible scoopers that Thanos is indeed making a comeback let’s take a look at a few possibilities that can make this happen in Avengers Secret Wars.

Some time back, an X user made a post saying “Thanos was officially removed from existence 1 year ago today” to which the scooper MyTimeToShineHello responded by saying “He will return, sooner than you think”. Now this scooper is known to be credible and if they state this to be a possibility there might be some truth in it. Now the question arises if Doctor Doom is going to be the big bad guy, why would they bring in Thanos? There are certain theories regarding it which we will discuss further.

Thanos Could Return to the MCU in Avengers Secret Wars

Certain storylines can come into play to bring Thanos and Doctor Doom together on screen. First off we could see an adaptation from Secret Wars#8 where the God-Emperor variant of Doctor Doom kills Thanos. It has already been made clear that the Doctor Doom we will see in Avengers Doomsday is going to be a multiversal threat. This gives rise to the possibility that we might get to see a variant of Doctor Doom who, by the end of Avengers Doomsday, becomes the God Emperor Variant of Doctor Doom. This would make Avengers Secret Wars even more comic-accurate.

In Avengers Secret Wars, we could see an alternate version of Thanos trying to fight Doctor Doom which could lead to him getting killed at the hands of the God Emperor Doom. In the comic version, Doctor Doom kills Thanos in one strike and turns him to dust while he holds on to Thanos’ spine connected to his skull. If Marvel made this happen it would be a mindblowing experience for the fans. However, this is just a speculation and what goes down could be completely different from what we expect to see.

There is another possibility where the Avengers might have to call in a different variant of Thanos as a contingency against Doctor Doom, which may lead to this scene but that seems to be pretty far-fetched.

So, what will actually happen is still a mystery and all we can do right now is speculate. So, let’s wait and see what happens.
